About the Role

The Electrician is a key member of the Operations Division within the Investment Section, responsible for delivering Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), LD2 fire alarm installations, and associated remedial works across the social housing sector. This role is critical in ensuring electrical compliance, tenant safety, and the effective delivery of statutory inspection and testing programmes while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and customer service. The successful candidate will undertake periodic inspection, testing, fault diagnosis, remedial works, and the installation, upgrading, and commissioning of LD2 fire detection systems within domestic properties. The role is primarily focused on EICR programmes and compliance activities; however, the postholder will also support a range of domestic electrical works including upgrades, rewires, fault-finding, repairs, and planned investment projects across the social housing network.

You will be responsible for carrying out inspections and testing of existing electrical installations, accurately recording findings, identifying defects and non-compliances, recommending remedial actions, and ensuring all certification is completed in accordance with current regulations and organisational procedures. You will also undertake the installation and upgrade of LD2 fire alarm systems, ensuring all works meet current standards and legislative requirements.

What You Will Bring

You will be a highly skilled 18th Edition qualified Electrician with the ability to deliver domestic electrical work for City Building to the highest professional standard. You will possess 2 years minimum demonstrable experience carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), inspection, testing, and certification of domestic electrical installations. You will ensure all tasks are completed safely and in full compliance with building regulations and health and safety legislation. You will have a strong focus on customer service and ensure you maintain clean, safe working environments.

Essential qualifications and experience include NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations, 18th Edition certification, strong domestic electrical experience, particularly in kitchens and rewires, proven testing and inspection skills and the ability to use NICEIC cloud based certification systems.
