General Maintenance Technician
Location: Nationwide – servicing 4 to 5 localised sites per region. Contract: Permanent – starting mid‑August. Hours: 45 per week.
Salary: ÂŁ32,421.43 per annum, plus overtime, travel time, 33 days holiday, private pension and benefits (private health care, life insurance, employee discounts).
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute structured visits to deliver PPM and reactive jobs on time, meeting all agreed SLAs.
- Carry out all maintenance work in accordance with Health and Safety and compliance guidelines detailed in each task sheet.
- Communicate proactively with the Asda team, the city wider team, and the customer to build strong relationships.
- Use the Mercury platform to update and manage jobs, ensuring accurate data entry and professional handling of each task.
- Respond promptly to support requests, assess the job requirements and perform necessary repairs.
- Order spare parts as required for planned and reactive maintenance work.
Key Tasks
- Carry out general repairs and maintenance at ASDA sites, including repairs to building fabric, car park surfaces and pipework.
- Clean air filters on HVAC equipment.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately following specified procedures.
- Identify non‑repairable issues, report findings to line management with recommendations for suitable alternatives.
- Collaborate with regional and city colleagues to deliver site‑specific objectives.
- Undertake all reasonable tasks directed by the Regional Operations Manager.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Full driving licence.
- GCSE or equivalent qualifications.
- PC/iPad literacy (Apple and Android).
- Previous experience in general building repair (e.g., plumbing, joinery, small civil works).
- Ability to maintain or repair a range of building fabrics, equipment and ground works to recognised standards.
Desirable
- Building trade qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds).
- Experience in a similar role and environment.
- Civil works experience.
