The Duchy of Cornwall is a dynamic future-focused landed estate dedicated to creating positive impact for people, places and the planet. We are seeking a motivated and independent individual with a genuine passion for sustainable forest management to support our woodland creation work, from identifying suitable sites and developing plans to coordinating planting, maintenance, and grant applications. You will work closely with colleagues and teams across the Duchy, liaise with farmers, contractors, and external partners, and help ensure projects meet UKFS and UKWAS standards.
Responsibilities
- Identify suitable sites for woodland creation and contribute to developing plans.
- Coordinate planting, maintenance, and grant applications in line with project timelines.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Duchy and liaise with farmers, contractors, and external partners.
- Help ensure projects meet UK Forestry Standard (UKFS) and UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS) requirements.
- Support budget forecasting and contribute to Woodland Carbon Code administration.
- Represent the organisation at industry events (e.g., Royal Cornwall Show and ICF CPD sessions).
Qualifications and Experience
- Forestry-related degree (or equivalent). If you are near completion, applications are welcome; appointments can be made subject to successful completion (second-class honours minimum).
- Professional, driven, and capable of building strong working relationships.
- Clear commitment to the Duchy’s objectives and solid understanding of the UK Forestry Standard.
Desirable Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with budget forecasting or programme administration is advantageous.
