Working in the family home of a young person, you will make a real difference in providing care and support to this family by ensuring the safety and comfort of their child. We are looking for a kind, patient and enthusiastic Care Assistant to support a happy, sociable young man who thrives on interaction and compassionate care. He lives at home with his loving family: mum, dad, sister and brother. Although he is unable to communicate with words, his expressions, sounds and gestures clearly show how he feels. He attends school daily and enjoys regular respite stays at a local specialist hospital.
Born at just 35 weeks, he has complex medical needs including Quadriplegia, Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay and Epilepsy. He also has sensorineural hearing loss and visual impairments. Despite his challenges, he has a joyful, engaging personality and loves being around people who take the time to understand him. You will play an important role in supporting him safely, respectfully and in a way that helps him enjoy meaningful interactions each day.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is caring, calm, reliable and patient
- Enjoys working with children/young people with complex needs
- Can understand and respond to non-verbal communication
- Is confident with medical needs (training can be provided)
- Works well as part of a supportive family environment
