Support Independence. Build Confidence. Make a Real Impact. Now Recruiting: Reablement Care Assistants – Dacorum & East Herts.
We’re looking for compassionate, reliable people to join our Welham Green Reablement team as Care Assistants. What exactly is Reablement? Unlike traditional care where you might do things for a client, reablement is all about doing things with them. It is a specialized, short-term, intensive service (typically lasting up to 6 weeks) designed to help individuals recover and relearn daily skills—usually after a hospital stay, a fall, or a period of illness. Instead of simply making their cup of tea, you will encourage and physically support them to make it themselves, gradually stepping back as their strength and confidence grow. It is highly goal-oriented. You will track their progress, celebrate their daily milestones, and ultimately cheer them on as they regain the ability to live safely and independently without the need for long-term care!
As part of our Welham Green Reablement team, you will be supporting clients across the following areas:
- Dacorum District: Hemel Hempstead, Tring, Berkhamsted, and surrounding villages.
- Hertford & Ware: SG12, SG13, SG14
We believe great work deserves great pay. You will be paid per shift at the following rates:
- £14.70 per hour – Monday to Friday
- £16.50 per hour – Saturday & Sunday
Guaranteed hours available for the right candidates – giving you the security of regular work!
Shifts – 7 Days a Week
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Evening Shift: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Driver Essential: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is strictly required for travel between clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Rebuilding Confidence – patiently encouraging clients to try tasks themselves.
- Mobility & Physiotherapy Support – assisting with transfers, walking, and exercises prescribed by occupational therapists.
- Nutrition & Mealtimes – supporting them to safely prepare their own meals and drinks.
- Medication Management – prompting and guiding them to manage their own medication safely.
- Housekeeping Skills – helping them relearn how to manage light cleaning and laundry.
- Health Monitoring – closely observing progress and reporting improvements or setbacks.
- Social Inclusion – helping them regain the confidence to step back into their community.
- Documentation – logging specific milestones to track their journey to independence.
Qualifications
What You’ll Need (Besides a Cape and Superpowers!) Hold onto your hats — ideally, you’ll have at least 6 months of social care experience to join our merry band of care crusaders! But here’s the truth: what matters most to us is your heart of gold and your ability to sprinkle kindness wherever you go. You’ll need to be as resilient as a rubber band and as eager to learn as a curious kitten. Don’t worry — we’ll help you level up your skills and knowledge as part of our close-knit (and delightfully quirky) team. While experience is a bonus, we’re really looking for people who:
- Have compassion oozing from every pore
- Possess problem-solving powers that would impress Mother Teresa
- Are committed to respectful, high-quality care that would make your gran proud
- Have the right to work within the UK (Please note: We are unable to offer visa sponsorship).
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential (some clients live in rural areas and need heroes who can reach them).
What You’ll Receive
- Guaranteed hours available for the right candidates
- Enhanced maternity, adoption & paternity pay
- 28 days annual leave (pro rata)
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Enhanced weekend & bank holiday pay
- Paid training (online & face-to-face)
- Career progression opportunities
- Flexible hours – part-time and full-time available
- Local work with the backing of the largest care company in the UK
