About the role
The QA Lead will take ownership of our approach to quality assurance across Dealerweb, bringing together hands‑on technical capability with team leadership, third‑party coordination and strategic quality planning.
This role involves leading a blended team of internal and external QA engineers, driving our automation strategy and establishing the governance that ensures we release with confidence.
Key responsibilities include:
Team Leadership
- Lead the QA team, made up of internal and external QA Engineers
- Set priorities, manage workload and ensure coverage across sprints and releases
- Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and capability development
- Coordinate with third-party delivery managers on quality, capacity, and knowledge transfer
- Establish QA governance, including the definition of ready, definition of done and release sign-off criteria
- Deliver honest, evidence-based quality status to engineering and product leadership
- Represent QA in cross-functional planning and roadmap discussions
Test Strategy and Execution
- Own test planning, execution, and reporting for Dealerweb releases
- Define risk-based test strategies aligned with product roadmaps
- Oversee functional, regression, integration and system testing
- Manage regression strategy for regular release cadences
- Drive Go/No-Go release decisions with evidence-based quality data
- Validate database integrity using SQL
Test Automation
- Drive the automation strategy for UI/E2E and API testing
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Establish automation standards, review practices and maintainability guidelines
We are looking for:
- 6+ years in software testing, with at least 2 years in a lead capacity
- An inspiring people leader, with strong experience leading QA teams
- A proactive communicator who takes ownership, navigates ambiguity and collaborates confidently
- Ability to simplify complexity and delivery high-quality outcomes with clarity
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, building trust and working collaboratively to move things forward
- A strong track record of delivering quality for complex web applications in Agile environments
Essential Technical skills
- Test automation, including hands‑on experience with modern frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress or Selenium, both at implementation level and in shaping wider automation strategy
- Programming skills, including experience writing and reviewing automation code in JavaScript, TypeScript or Python
- API testing, including experience working with REST APIs, Postman and building or maintaining automated API test suites
- CI/CD pipelines, including experience using platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar for test execution and integration
- Database validation, including practical use of SQL for test data setup, interrogation and verification
- Test management, including experience using TestRail or an equivalent tool to organise, track and report on test coverage
