The Living Wage Foundation is a part of Citizens UK, working to secure a real living wage for workers across the UK. As a key part of the organisation, the Foundation works with community groups, employers and other partners to promote and implement the Living Wage and related campaigns.
Purpose
The Living Wage Foundation is seeking an experienced Digital Communications Manager. The role requires a tech-savvy storyteller with strong digital communication skills, able to engage supporters across social networks, the website and email. The Manager will lead the social media, website and email strategy, oversee a Communications Officer, and collaborate closely with the Senior Communications and Marketing Manager.
Main Responsibilities
- Social Media
- Lead the team in using social media to increase brand awareness and impact; generate innovative approaches.
- Oversee the Communications Officer to monitor, manage, create and schedule content on all social media accounts, tailoring content to different channels and audiences.
- Establish systems for monitoring and evaluating key performance indicators and delivering on time and within budget.
- Manage paid advertising strategy on social media, overseeing relationships with external agencies.
- Website
- Work with developers to maintain and update the website CMS alongside the Operations team.
- Support the team in creating news and blog content and upskill colleagues to contribute to the website.
- Support the development of a members’ dashboard area to improve processes and enhance the accreditation experience.
- Use analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) to monitor website success.
- Materials Development and Dissemination
- Ensure all work is completed within brand guidelines.
- Roll out a content strategy to support the digital communications and marketing strategy, including resourcing the work-plan for the wider team and contractors.
- Manage newsletters and mailing lists with Living Wage Employers, looking for opportunities to improve content and impact.
- Provide basic design and video-editing support for communications and marketing collateral.
- Support the wider team and employers with ad-hoc marketing requests and digital materials.
- Situational Awareness and Research
- Lead the team in conducting stakeholder analysis and segmenting audiences and their positions.
- Test and learn from new digital and marketing approaches.
- Identify new ways to communicate effectively with the internal employer network.
- Strategy Development
- Participate in developing the communications strategy, contributing tactical and creative ideas and ensuring alignment with wider campaign strategies.
- Shape digital engagement and marketing strategy, ensuring it delivers against the influencing goals and adjusting as required.
- Work with wider teams to support the development of tailored digital communications strategies.
- Manage limited budgets for the digital growth strategy.
- Reputational and Risk Management
- Appropriately manage and mitigate risk on digital channels; develop processes and messaging when necessary.
- Demonstrate awareness of potential reputational risks and proactively develop appropriate protocols and messages.
- Effectively represent the organisation with senior stakeholders.
- External Relationships
- Collaborate with Living Wage Employers and supporters to create engaging content and increase visibility online.
- Manage external relationships with agencies, designers and contractors to ensure quality and brand consistency.
- Campaigns and Events Management
- Develop creative digital marketing campaigns that promote the brand and engage audiences.
- Create a digital strategy for Living Wage Week, including an employer digital pack and overseeing delivery by Communications Officers.
- Provide digital support and advice for organisational campaign and event priorities.
- Establish systems for monitoring and evaluating key performance indicators.
- Internal Comms and Knowledge Management
- Identify gaps in internal digital knowledge and strengthen processes and documents to promote best practice.
- Provide digital support and training to colleagues across projects to build internal capacity.
- Act as a brand ambassador for the organisation.
- Internal Relationships
- Line-manage the Communications Officer.
- Provide leadership on digital engagement, ensuring colleagues feel supported, developed and valued.
- Coordinate staff across the organisation.
- Ensure high-quality work that reflects organisational values.
- Contribute to CUK Mission and Strategic Objectives
