Overview

Citizens Advice Welwyn Hatfield is seeking a Generalist Adviser to join our team. In this role, you will provide advice focused on a range of issues, including welfare benefits, housing, debt, and discrimination. Support will be delivered both over the phone and face to face, helping clients understand their rights and responsibilities by exploring their problems in depth. You will encourage clients to take ownership of the steps needed to resolve their issues, while also providing casework and advocacy for those requiring additional support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on welfare benefits, housing, debt, and discrimination.
  • Deliver support over the phone and face to face.
  • Help clients understand their rights and responsibilities by exploring issues in depth.
  • Encourage clients to take ownership of the steps needed to resolve their issues.
  • Provide casework and advocacy for clients who require additional support.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ideally, experience working as a Generalist Adviser; full training will be provided for the right candidates entering the service as trainees.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge to helping clients.
  • A positive attitude to hard work, finding solutions and accepting constructive feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
