About The Role

We’re looking for a Social Welfare Adviser (Housing) to join our Legal Services team and support people facing complex housing issues across the North East. You’ll provide specialist housing advice and casework, help clients tackle wider social welfare issues, and make a real difference in a values-driven organisation.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide specialist housing advice, advocacy and casework
  • Support clients to understand their rights and achieve positive outcomes
  • Deliver advice face to face, by phone and digitally
  • Contribute to high-quality casework, service delivery and partnership working

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience of delivering social welfare advice by phone or face to face
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Good organisation and time management
  • Housing advice experience or relevant qualification is desirable

Hours: 37 per week

Location: Office-based with travel across Gateshead, Sunderland, South Tyneside, Durham and Newcastle

Start Date: 27th July 2026
