Overview

EDI Programme Manager role at Citizens Advice — Fixed term, 18 Month FTC.

Citizens Advice offers confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, for free. Through our national network of charities, we give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.

This pivotal role leads the delivery of Mission Two — our commitment to closing gaps in access and experience for marginalised clients across the organisation. You will oversee, lead and develop the programme management function for Mission Two, ensuring projects are effectively planned, monitored, and aligned to strategic outcomes. You’ll manage a portfolio of complex, cross‑organisational projects and programmes at the heart of our Equity and Belonging work.

You will work closely with the Equity and Belonging management team, data and evaluation colleagues, and wider stakeholders to develop and implement robust project plans, performance measures and reporting mechanisms. You’ll help align mission-related activities across the organisation, resolve competing priorities, and facilitate effective collaboration across teams. You will provide expert guidance on project delivery and governance, ensuring best practice tools and methodologies are embedded across all Mission Two workstreams. With a strong focus on impact, you’ll monitor delivery, identify and manage risks, and support senior leaders with timely and accurate reporting to the Executive Team and Board.

Apply with your CV and cover letter outlining your skills and experience covering the criteria below:

  • Significant knowledge, experience and strong capabilities as a project manager with successful experience of and qualification in project management methodologies such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile. Proven experience of managing multiple complex and medium to large scale projects through inception, implementation and completion concurrently.
  • Genuine interest and commitment to EDI values and activities with the aim of expanding skills, knowledge and learning.
  • Experience in developing KPIs and measures, ideally EDI KPIs.
  • Rigorous and critical thinker, able to think creatively and pragmatically at both big picture and detailed implementation level. Strong ability to work under pressure, manage ambiguity, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing stakeholder relationships to drive collaboration towards clear goals and to motivate project staff members.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape meaningful change, driving equity, inclusion and better outcomes across the service.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is of strategic importance within the organisation and integral to all we do. We welcome applications from people who are underrepresented in our sector and we follow the Disability Confident Interview Commitment where applicable. We will provide reasonable adjustments as needed.

A blended approach between a local office and home is preferred where possible, but location details will be discussed during the interview. This role can be considered for a secondment if the successful candidate meets eligibility criteria.
