Debt Adviser – Citizens Advice New Forest (CANF)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Debt Adviser to join our Hampshire-wide Debt Advice project. The role will support vulnerable clients living across Tadley, Rushmoor, Hart and East Hampshire who are struggling to manage their debt. This project, funded through the National Lottery, responds to the increasing demand for debt advice as people deal with the cost‑of‑living crisis, with objectives of improving both their debt situation and their mental wellbeing.

Responsibilities

As a Debt Adviser you will:

  • Provide individual debt advice and support to clients, helping them to manage their finances.
  • Assess clients’ financial situations and develop tailored advice plans.
  • Support clients with budgeting, debt consolidation strategies and addressing related mental wellbeing concerns.
  • Maintain accurate client records in accordance with agency policies.
  • Collaborate with other advisers and services across the county to ensure holistic support.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about helping vulnerable people living on low incomes.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to understand individuals’ needs and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, empathy, and ability to work with people struggling with mental health.
  • Adaptable, able to change communication style to suit clients.
