Citizens Advice Waltham Forest, part of the London-wide Debt Free Advice (DFA) project, is looking for an experienced Debt Advice Caseworker. The role involves delivering high-quality debt advice to local residents who are facing financial hardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored, practical debt advice to clients in a sensitive, non-judgemental way.
  • Deliver advice across multiple channels, including face-to-face at outreach locations, telephone, video and e-mail.
  • Work within a regulated environment, adhering to quality standards and project quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members and advocate for clients to help promote fair financial solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven track record of supporting clients with debt and financial difficulties.
  • Experience providing debt advice in a regulated setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – compassionate, respectful and confident in a diverse interaction environment.

Training and Development

  • Hybrid role combining face-to-face outreach work with home working.
  • Opportunity to be considered for a trainee debt adviser position if a fully qualified candidate is not selected; the trainee programme lasts approximately 6 months with training, mentoring and supervision.
