Salary: £28,969 per annum (depending on experience). Actual Salary for 32.5 hours, £25,446.
Contract status: Fixed Term until 31st May 2027, with potential to extend for a further 2 years until 31st May 2029, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Start Date: Immediate Start
Holiday entitlement: 32 days annual leave + public bank holidays (pro rata for part-time posts).
Pension: Matching 5% employer’s contribution.

We are excited to announce that we are seeking to recruit a Welfare Benefits Caseworker to join our thriving charity at Citizens Advice Barnsley. Our service is busy, dynamic and client focused, with a long track record of delivering high quality advice.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice to cancer patients and their families to help them navigate complex issues they cannot manage alone.
- Provide case work level support including Income Maximisation and Benefit Assessments, Form Filling, Grant Applications, and Advocacy & Appeals.
- Potentially include Tribunal preparation and legal representation.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience of delivering welfare benefits advice, related to disability and ill health.
- High degree of empathy, emotional resilience, and sensitivity toward the unique needs of cancer patients.
- Good IT and communication skills.
- Ability to work with other organisations and agencies to establish good working relationships.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and social policy issues.
