Our volunteering roles
We recruit for a number of roles and there are many ways to get involved, from admin, fundraising, to helping our clients find the information and advice they need.
Our volunteers give confidential advice online, over the phone and in person, to help our clients resolve their problems.

Advice Roles
What might you do as an adviser?
- Complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and comprehensive training for your role
- Talk to clients over the phone, online or face to face to explore what problems they’ve come for help with
- Find information about the clients’ problems and help them to understand their options
- Complete benefit checks to make clients aware of what benefits that they are entitled to
- Help to assess a client’s debts and provide money management advice
- Refer or signpost for more specialist or in depth advice where needed
- Non-Advice roles
What might you do in a non-advice role?
- Complete an introduction to Citizens Advice and comprehensive training for your role
- Meet and greet clients and provide information or book appointments for further advice
- Complete feedback surveys with clients to assess the impact our advice has
- Assist on our Specialist Services such as Macmillan, Foodbanks or Outreaches
- Support our office teams with admin duties
- Help with fundraising or attend events

- Friendly and approachable

- Good at listening to others
- Someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Able to demonstrate good IT skills
- Able to understand information and explain it to others
- Willing to learn about and follow the Citizens Advice aims, principles and policies
- Willing to undertake comprehensive training in your role
- Able to commit to at least one day a week volunteering with us.
