Citizens Advice Flintshire (CAF) is a trusted local charity that has been helping people since 1964. We support over 9,000 people each year on issues including benefits, debt, housing, employment, immigration and discrimination. In 2024 alone, we helped clients with over 50,000 problems. With offices in Mold and Connah's Quay, plus outreach locations and digital advice channels, our work is made possible by our dedicated staff, volunteers and funders, including Flintshire County Council, Welsh Government and the National Lottery.
About the role
As Senior Finance Officer, you will take the lead on our day-to-day finance operations and provide the financial insight our senior leadership team relies on. You will produce monthly management accounts, oversee grant and fund accounting, manage payroll, and play a key role in budget monitoring and annual audit preparation.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Producing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
- Managing month-end processes including journals, accruals, reconciliations and prepayments
- Overseeing grant and restricted fund accounting, ensuring compliance with funder requirements
- Supporting budget holders and providing clear variance analysis and commentary
- Processing payroll and pension contributions
- Leading on year-end accounts and acting as a key contact during audit
- Maintaining and developing our financial systems, including QuickBooks
What we are looking for
You will be a great fit for this role if you:
- Have solid experience producing full management accounts independently
- Are confident with month-end processes and financial controls
- Can communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues and senior stakeholders
- Are organised, accurate, and able to manage your own workload to deadlines
- Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a small team, while taking ownership of your area
- Have experience of, or an interest in, charity finance or grant-funded environments (desirable)
