Citizens Advice West Berkshire is looking to recruit a Money Adviser / Caseworker (Trainee) to join our advice team. The role is initially 28.5 hours per week (Monday - Thursday). Three days will be worked from 9am to 4.30pm or 9.30am to 5pm, and one day from 9am to 5pm. All working days include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
The role is made up of two separately funded parts:
- 24.5 hours per week, fixed-term until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension for up to a further two years subject to funding. Salary: £19,110 per annum, pro rata.
- Additional 4 hours per week, fixed-term until 31 January 2027, which may also be extended subject to funding. Salary: £3,120 per annum, pro rata.
You will provide money advice and casework to clients throughout the debt advice process. This will include dealing with emergencies, maximising income, providing budgeting advice and helping clients understand the debt solutions and options available to them. The role will include:
- Gathering relevant information about clients’ circumstances and financial situations
- Explaining debt solutions and helping clients make informed decisions
- Advising on rights, options and consequences for resolving debts
- Liaising and negotiating with creditors
- Preparing referrals to the DRO Hub
- Completing welfare benefit checks and helping with applications where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate case records and continuity of casework
This is a training role and accredited training will be provided as part of the job. We welcome applications from people with generalist or other relevant advice experience who would like to develop their skills in money advice and casework, as well as from experienced or qualified money advisers/caseworkers.
