Citizens Advice West Berkshire is looking to recruit a Debt Adviser / Caseworker. Location: Newbury and surrounding areas of West Berkshire with the possibility of some time working from home.

We are looking to take on a Debt Adviser / Caseworker to join our advice team consisting of specialist caseworkers and generalist advisers. You will be providing advice and casework to clients, supporting them through the debt advice process including dealing with emergencies, income maximisation, budgeting advice and helping with a debt strategy.

The money advice process involves:

  • Gathering all information regarding the client’s circumstances and financial situation.
  • Advising the client on the range of debt solutions available to them and help them make an informed decision on how to proceed.
  • Acting for clients where necessary by calculating, negotiating, drafting or writing letters and telephoning.
  • Preparing and presenting cases to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts.
  • Negotiating with third parties in writing and on the telephone.
  • Using IT to maintain case records for continuity of casework.

Training will be available to support continuous learning. We are willing to consider advisers with generalist or other relevant experience who wish to develop their debt casework knowledge and skills by completing the standard debt advice training programme.
