Cititec are working with a global commodities firm who are looking for a Senior Market Risk Analyst to join their team. You will play a key role in overseeing risk management across trading desks, with a focus on crude and refined products, while driving the development and enhancement of our market risk framework and capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide market risk coverage for a commodities trading desk, acting as a trusted partner to traders and providing effective challenge where required.
- Monitor and analyse portfolio risk, valuations, P&L, and key market risk drivers.
- Develop a strong understanding of trading strategies, exposures, and portfolio performance.
- Support and enhance risk reporting, analytics, and infrastructure within a lean team environment.
- Debug, maintain, and improve Python-based tools and reporting frameworks.
- Work closely with traders, quants, and technology teams to ensure robust risk management and infrastructure.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and optimisation of risk processes and systems.
Requirements:
- Prior market risk experience within a commodities or energy trading environment.
- Strong understanding of front-office trading, risk, and quantitative concepts, including option valuation, mark-to-market methodologies, and portfolio valuation.
- Ability to provide independent coverage of a trading desk and confidently challenge trading activity and risk exposures.
- Strong Python and SQL skills, with the ability to understand, support, and improve risk infrastructure and reporting tools.
- Comfortable engaging with highly technical quantitative stakeholders and discussing technical solutions in detail.
- Strong commodity market knowledge, ideally within crude oil, refined products, LNG, or related energy markets.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to bridge trading, risk, and technology functions.
- Quantitative, mathematical, or other highly technical academic background is advantageous.
