The newly created Vendor Relationship Management role sits within Markets COO – Business Execution (Resource Management) and builds on Citi's successful brokers and Market Data vendor management capability, expanding its scope beyond cost into broader commercial value. As the point of contact for Markets' largest and most strategic vendors, the successful candidate will deepen and facilitate senior engagement with key vendors, and drive commercial outcomes through both cost and revenue lenses.
The role collaborates closely with Citi's enterprise and cross-businesses cost management teams, and broadly across the organisation, including Markets Sales & Trading, Markets CAOs, Markets Innovation, Markets Strategic Investments, and Functions and other Citi businesses that rely on the same vendors.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join the team, offering a unique opportunity to gain exposure to — and rapidly develop through — managing Citi Markets' most strategic vendor relationships. Activities include but are not limited to:
- Senior vendor engagement: Ensure Markets senior engagement with top vendors, with a particular focus on Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs). Act as the single point to deepen and facilitate engagements with Markets' largest vendors.
- Meeting and stakeholder management: Organise meetings, gather feedback from internal stakeholders, prepare materials and manage follow-ups, coordinating regular senior engagement internally and externally.
- Partnerships beyond cost: While maintaining a strong focus on cost management, develop partnerships that go beyond cost — including innovation and other commercial opportunities that create mutual value.
- Vendor management reporting: Develop vendor-specific management reports, focusing on spend, savings and opportunities, and driving transparency on commercial outcomes through both cost and revenue lenses.
- Negotiation and deal support: Support negotiations and deals led by the cross-Markets and business-specific vendor management teams.
- Governance and collaboration: Collaborate with enterprise vendor management teams and support governance processes for top vendors, complementing rather than duplicating procurement and third-party oversight functions.
- AI-enabled program management: Leverage AI to manage the program — tracking vendors' activities, market intelligence and analytics, identifying opportunities, and tracking issues and agreed deliverables.
What we'll need from you:
- Demonstrable experience in a relevant financial services environment, ideally including vendor / supplier relationship management, procurement, sourcing or third-party management, or gained in a top-tier consulting firm supporting financial institution clients on strategic engagements.
- Experience engaging with, or a strong understanding of, Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs), exchanges, market data providers, inter-dealer brokers and other key Markets vendors.
- Proven ability to remain agile and adaptable in high-pressure environments, including managing shifting priorities, tight deadlines and complex stakeholder expectations.
- A commercial mindset with a track record of driving cost savings and identifying revenue and partnership opportunities.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of producing accurate, high-quality deliverables.
- High proficiency in MS Office Suite; particularly Excel (data manipulation) and PowerPoint (storyboarding and executive-ready materials).
- Highly collaborative and effective at building an internal network, with the ability to influence stakeholders and coordinate senior engagement across teams.
- Strong academic background with a degree from a leading university, demonstrating intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Passionate about — with a track record in — applying AI / developing AI solutions, particularly to support vendor tracking, market intelligence, analytics and program management.
