In this role, you will lead deal execution across M&A, IPOs, and private placements, working alongside senior bankers and clients to deliver high-impact outcomes. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of client relationships, transaction delivery, and team development within one of the world's leading financial institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Advise UK financial institutions clients — including banks, wealth managers, and stock exchanges — on M&A, IPO, and private placement transactions, serving as a trusted point of contact throughout the deal lifecycle.
  • Lead the execution of transactions from mandate to close, coordinating with clients, senior team members, and external advisors to deliver high-quality outcomes on complex deals.
  • Develop and present situation analyses, pitch materials, information memoranda, and investor and management presentations that clearly articulate strategic options and transaction rationale.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth of the UK Financial Institutions Group franchise through client development and market insight.
  • Oversee and guide analysts and associates on live transactions, reviewing their work and supporting their professional development within the team.
  • Engage directly in special situation mandates, applying sound judgment to navigate complex and time-sensitive advisory assignments.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Prior investment banking experience with direct involvement in M&A, IPO, or private placement transactions within the financial services sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and take ownership of transaction execution at a senior level.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information effectively to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accountability, attention to detail, and sound commercial judgment are essential.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience advising UK Financial Institutions Group clients specifically, including banks, wealth managers, or exchanges.
  • Familiarity with UK insurance or broader financial services sub-sectors, with the ability to extend coverage beyond core banking clients.
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior investment banking professionals, with a track record of supporting their development on live transactions.

What We Offer

  • A hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely, offering the balance of collaboration and flexibility.
  • Genuine ownership of client relationships and transaction mandates, with the scope to expand your coverage into new sub-sectors over time.
  • Access to Citi's global network, providing reach and resources that extend well beyond the UK market.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including access to professional training and exposure to complex, high-profile transactions.
