The Head of FX Linear Pricing is a critical senior appointment that will directly shape the pricing infrastructure underpinning Citi's global FX franchise.

This is a high-visibility Director-level position reporting to the Global Head of FX eTrading Technology. The successful candidate will own the strategic direction, technology architecture, and engineering leadership for all FX Linear Pricing platforms, spanning Spot, Forwards, NDFs, and associated hedging instruments. The role combines executive-level strategy with hands-on technical credibility.

The Head of FX Linear Pricing is expected to operate at the intersection of engineering excellence, quantitative finance, and business strategy, setting multi-year platform vision while remaining close to the teams and systems delivering it. The role includes budget and investment responsibility.

Strategic Leadership and Vision
  • Define and own the multi-year technology strategy for all FX Linear Pricing platforms, aligned to global business priorities and Citi's broader technology transformation agenda.
  • Shape the future architecture of FX pricing engines, driving modernisation of legacy infrastructure and designing next-generation, ultra low-latency, highly scalable pricing platforms.
  • Partner with the Global Head of eFX Trading, STIRT Trading, Quant, and Risk functions to ensure pricing platforms deliver measurable competitive advantage across all client and market-making channels.
  • Represent FX Linear Pricing technology at the executive level, presenting roadmaps, investment proposals, and risk and opportunity assessments to senior leadership across Technology and the Business.
  • Drive adoption of industry-leading engineering practices: CI/CD, observability, chaos engineering, and platform reliability frameworks.
  • Contribute to defining and implementing best practices and standards for the FX Technology department, ensuring transparency and consistency across all teams.
People Leadership and Organisational Development
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a globally distributed team of senior engineers and technical leads, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Define the organisational structure, roles, and career frameworks for the Linear Pricing engineering function, ensuring resource allocation is aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Own all personnel responsibilities: performance evaluations, talent development, succession planning, hiring, and where necessary, performance management and disciplinary actions.
  • Position the Linear Pricing engineering team as the engineering role model for the FX Technology organisation and across Citi more broadly.
  • Develop a clear vision for the team around roles and responsibilities; structure the team to ensure the greatest impact, efficient use of resource, and alignment to business objectives.
  • Lead and deliver local and global staff forums, present strategic direction, global and regional updates to engage the team in the progress of the organisation.
Technical Delivery and Architecture
  • Maintain deep, hands-on technical credibility: actively engage in architecture reviews, codebase deep-dives, and system design, providing detailed and constructive guidance to engineering leads.
  • Drive delivery of complex, mission-critical platform programmes: new system builds, legacy replacements, and infrastructure modernisation initiatives across all linear FX products.
  • Ensure the highest standards of system reliability, operational resilience, and performance, including SLA ownership and incident management frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Quant and Structuring teams to translate pricing model changes and new product requirements into production-grade engineering solutions with speed and precision.
  • Ensure staff adhere to Citi's documented engineering policies, control frameworks, and regulatory obligations, maintaining comprehensive documentation and audit-ready desktop procedures.
Stakeholder Management and Influence
  • Act as the primary technology interface for FX Linear businesses, building trusted partnerships with Trading, Sales, Quant, Risk, and Operations stakeholders.
  • Influence cross-functional technology decisions at a senior level, contributing to enterprise-wide architecture governance and platform standardisation initiatives.
  • Drive innovation by tracking industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive intelligence, translating external developments into strategic advantage for Citi FX.
Key Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven strategic leadership experience at Director level or equivalent in a global, matrixed financial services environment.
  • Proven understanding of ultra low-latency development practices and high-performance computing in an FX or broader markets context.
  • Deep knowledge of FX Linear products (Spot, Forwards, NDFs) and associated market microstructure is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and execute multi-year technology platform strategies, with a track record of building new systems, replacing legacy infrastructure, and renovating existing platforms.
  • Ability to develop a team that is seen as the engineering role model for the organisation; experience building and retaining senior engineering talent.
  • Ability to work directly with Trading, Quant, and Structuring teams, translating complex financial requirements into robust, scalable engineering solutions.
  • The candidate will have strong systems knowledge (software, hardware, and networks) required to define solutions and troubleshoot complex production issues across the full technology stack.
  • Exceptional strategic communicator, confident presenting technology strategy, investment cases, and risk assessments to Managing Director-level audiences, as well as at an individual team level.
  • Highly credible hands-on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product and codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback at Director level.
  • Deep awareness of industry trends in FX technology, e-commerce, and market microstructure, with a track record of leveraging new technologies strategically.
  • Experience in collaborating with and influencing cross-functional and geographically distributed teams in a complex, regulated enterprise environment.
