Citi is the market maker and a global leader in all major Fixed Income markets. The Fixed Income Trade Processing (FITP) platform is Citi's primary trading system, processing Derivatives, Cash, and Exotics products for 2,000+ Trading, Sales, and Middle Office users globally - handling approximately 200,000 transactions daily with connectivity to 60+ electronic trading venues and 20+ regulatory bodies.
The FI Trade Processing - EMEA Head of Business Engagement is a pivotal C14-level leadership position based at Citi's Primary EMEA Hub in London, working closely with the heads and leads of businesses in Rates, Credit, Markets Treasury, Finance Desk and other businesses trading Fixed Income products. This role serves as the primary point of contact for senior desk heads across businesses, ensuring that technology strategy is continuously aligned with evolving front-office priorities. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and the global engineering organization, translating complex business needs into actionable technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the senior-most technology liaison for Rates and Spread Products desk heads, building trusted, long-term relationships with front-office leadership.
- Business Priority Intelligence: Maintain a continuous, real-time pulse on evolving business priorities across Rates, Spread Products, and Markets Treasury - proactively surfacing emerging needs before they become blockers.
- Strategic Solutioning: Translate front-office priorities into clear technology roadmaps, leveraging the global FITP engineering team to deliver high-impact solutions across trade capture, STP, and regulatory reporting.
- Global Team Orchestration: Partner with global development, QA, and support teams to ensure business priorities are effectively resourced and delivered, coordinating across time zones and geographies.
- Delivery Oversight: Oversee end-to-end delivery of key business initiatives including unified platform buildout, Electronic Trading STP, trade capture and enrichment.
- Stakeholder Governance: Establish and maintain structured engagement cadences with Front Office Trading, MQA and Sales, stakeholders, ensuring transparency on delivery status and risk escalation.
- Platform Advocacy: Build a broad-based understanding of the full FiTP application suite and champion platform capabilities to business stakeholders, driving adoption of new features and modernization initiatives.
- Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions).
- Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results.
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
- Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards.
- Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals.
- Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources.
- Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in technology, financial services, or client-facing roles within capital markets, with deep exposure to Fixed Income products and trading workflows.
- Proven leadership and people management experience, with a track record of building and retaining high-performing teams in a global, matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated ability to engage senior business stakeholders including traders, desk heads, and sales leadership in a credible, professional, and impactful manner.
- Deep knowledge of major Fixed Income products (Bonds, Swaps, Futures, Spread Products, Repos) and Broker/Customer Markets trading flows, including STP and regulatory reporting.
- Strong track record of disciplined project delivery - managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs on time and within scope in a high-pressure trading environment.
- Solid architectural understanding of enterprise trading platforms, including experience with microservices, modern software delivery practices (Agile, CI/CD), and large-scale financial systems.
