Overview

As a Corporate Banking Associate/Senior Associate in Citi’s Power, Energy and Commodity Traders team, you provide capital-structure and corporate-finance expertise to a global client base. You will originate and execute financing transactions across Citi’s full product platform, collaborating with senior bankers to deepen client relationships at CFO and Treasury levels across the EMEA region. You’ll develop targeted materials and use financials to support deals, while mentoring junior team members. This role combines sector focus, cross-product exposure, and significant client impact within a high-performance environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Energy, Power and Commodity Trading clients on capital structure and financing strategy, acting with CFO/Treasury-level influence
  • Lead origination and execution of episodic and strategic financing transactions across the EMEA region
  • Create client pitch materials and financial analyses from filings, plans, and forecasts to support execution
  • Perform credit analyses and risk assessments on existing/prospective relationships, including liquidity, benchmarking and projections
  • Collaborate with Capital Markets, Commodities, Derivatives, Trade Finance, and Lending to identify cross-sell opportunities
  • Monitor market trends in Energy, Power and Commodity Trading to position Citi as a specialist adviser
  • Mentor junior team members to strengthen technical capability and client management skills

Key requirements

  • Experience in corporate banking, financing, debt advisory, or capital markets/investment banking
  • Sector experience in Energy, Power and Commodity Trading with credibility with clients
  • Credit analysis capability with track record in episodic financing and counterparty risk
  • Corporate finance acumen including capital structure drivers and financial-modeling ability
  • Strong quantitative, accounting, and financial-modelling skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication translating complex analysis into client materials
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
