Overview
In this role you will architect and implement high-performance KDB+/q time-series systems to support electronic trading and market data. You will lead technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with traders, analysts, and infrastructure teams. You’ll optimise real-time and historical data architectures and drive cloud adoption and compliance-aligned solutions. This position offers scope to shape core data platforms and impact fast-moving financial workflows.

Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end design and maintenance of scalable KDB+ architectures (TP, RDB, HDB, RTS, IDB, GW)
- Define best practices for q code, schema design, memory management, data partitioning, and query optimization
- Act as primary technical authority for KDB+ platform engineering aligning with enterprise blueprints and compliance
- Design and build high-throughput feedhandlers, APIs, and microservices interfacing KDB+ with messaging systems
- Develop high-performance C/C++ or Python libraries for analytics and ML integration
- Oversee KDB+ deployment in on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, KX Insights)
- Lead, mentor and coach KDB developers; conduct code reviews and manage releases
- Drive risk-aware decision making and regulatory compliance across IT and business stakeholders
Key requirements
- Hands-on experience with KDB+/q in high-volume, low-latency finance environments
- Mastery of KDB+/q with vectorized code and CEP
- Experience designing Tick architectures (TP, RDB, HDB, CEP, Gateway)
- Strong knowledge of IPC, multi-threading, memory allocators, partitioning
- Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy) and embedding tools like embedPy or PyKX
- Experience with Java-KDB+ integration; familiarity with messaging middleware (Kafka, Solace, LBM/Tibco)
- Linux/Unix expertise, shell scripting, performance tuning
- CI/CD familiarity; containerization with Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift a plus
