By joining Citi, you will become part of a global organisation whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner to our clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress.
Team/Role Overview
The Product Owner for Data Governance Experience requires a strategically minded professional who stays abreast of developments in data governance, data quality, and enterprise tooling within the financial services sector. This role contributes to the directional strategy of the Data Management COE function within Services by translating complex, cross-process data governance requirements into a coherent, joined-up product vision and delivery roadmap. The role is a recognised authority on Services data governance tooling and acts as the primary bridge between process owners, the Enterprise Data Office (EDO), and technology delivery teams. You will have a significant impact across the Services function, directly affecting the operational effectiveness of data governance controls, forums, and compliance with the Citi Global Data Policy (CGDP).
What you’ll do
- Define and own the product vision and strategic roadmap for the Services Data Governance Dashboards and Tactical Tooling suite.
- Own and continuously refine the product backlog, leading requirements gathering, User Story development, and prioritisation in line with business value.
- Act as the single point of contact for consolidating requirements across all six process domains, understanding pain points and identifying opportunities for a joined‑up user experience.
- Engage and collaborate closely with the Enterprise Data Office (EDO), technology delivery partners, data engineering teams, and senior business stakeholders.
- Drive the delivery of the tactical tooling roadmap, monitoring progress, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and escalating blockers where necessary.
- Ensure delivered tooling meets quality standards, is fit for purpose, and is adopted effectively by end‑users across the Services function.
- Appropriately assess risk when making product decisions, ensuring all tooling and process changes adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and Citi Policy.
- Apply sound ethical judgement and escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency.
What we need from you
- Solid hands-on experience in a Product Owner role within a Data organisation.
- Proven expertise in data governance, data quality, and enterprise tooling, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Strong product management skills with a track record of defining product strategy, managing backlogs, and delivering on a roadmap.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to guide, influence, and align colleagues across multiple domains and seniority levels.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, including facilitating sprint planning, backlog grooming, and review sessions.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex requirements into a clear, actionable product vision.
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Sound ethical judgment and a strong understanding of risk and control frameworks.
