Team / Role Overview

Citi's Services organisation provides an integrated suite of innovative and tailored cash management and trade and working capital solutions to multinational corporations, financial institutions and public sector organisations. Citi's Trade & Working Capital business is the market leader in delivering global trade and working capital financing solutions across sectors. The Core Trade Structuring Lead Specialist is responsible for supporting and providing advisory to Sales, Banking and Risk on client engagements for structured core trade transactions, primarily involving Letters of Credit, Guarantees and related structured trade solutions. Additionally, leading solutioning, deal approvals and execution with an emphasis on complex risk and credit frameworks under strong controls environment in order to support the expansion of our accessible wallet and enable the business to grow sustainably. It requires experience leading complex deal execution across the globe and a solid understanding of Corporate Finance. The role sits distinctly within front‑office structuring, with accountability for transaction design, risk allocation and documentation, rather than sales origination or operational processing. It requires strong technical expertise, sound judgement and experience with bespoke and, where applicable, syndicated trade structures, including transactions using LMA (London Market Association) ‑ aligned documentation.

What you’ll do

  • Structure and execute complex, high‑value and non‑standard trade finance transactions, including Letters of Credit, Guarantees and structured trade solutions.
  • Lead the structuring of transactions involving multiple jurisdictions, counterparties or banks, including risk participation, club and syndicated trade transactions where applicable.
  • Draft, review and negotiate trade documentation, including LMA‑style or LMA‑based structures, in close coordination with Legal.
  • Translate client needs into bankable, risk‑appropriate trade structures, working alongside coverage and product teams without assuming a primary sales remit.
  • Act as a technical structuring expert, advising on risk allocation, documentation mechanics and execution feasibility.
  • In close coordination with Product Management, contribute to the development and execution of regional trade structuring priorities, including delivery of complex, multi‑country solutions that support scalable and well‑governed portfolio growth.
  • Manage end‑to‑end transaction structuring through internal approval and execution, with formal handover to Operations for processing and administration.
  • Maintain ownership of assigned transaction pipeline and associated revenues.
  • Conduct targeted wallet analysis to identify structuring‑led opportunities within existing client relationships.
  • Coordinate closely with Credit Risk, Legal, Compliance and other control partners to support credit approvals and governance requirements.
  • Apply consistent structuring and documentation standards across transactions and jurisdictions.
  • Provide technical guidance to Trade Sales and Risk Distribution colleagues on complex or bespoke structures.

Governance and Risk Responsibilities

  • Ensure all transactions are structured in line with internal policies, approved risk appetite and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Appropriately assess risk and reward at transaction level, including legal, credit, operational and reputational considerations.
  • Ensure material structuring decisions, deviations and risk mitigants are clearly documented.
  • Participate in audits, reviews and remediation actions relating to assigned transactions or portfolios.
  • Adhere to the firm’s Code of Conduct and demonstrate sound ethical judgement at all times.

What we’ll need from you

  • Significant related experience in trade finance, with a strong focus on complex and structured trade transactions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Letters of Credit, Guarantees and structured trade solutions.
  • Background in leading client core trade relationships.
  • Experience with bespoke documentation, exposure to LMA or LMA‑based trade structures is welcomed.
  • Strong understanding of credit processes, legal documentation and risk frameworks.
  • Proven ability to operate independently on complex transactions.
  • Strong analytical skills, commercial judgement and attention to detail.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
