Citi is looking for a Senior Controls Analyst to join the Markets Shared Controls Group, a critical function within the Chief Operating Office of Citi Global Markets, where you will help maintain a robust control environment that directly supports the performance and integrity of global markets businesses.

In this role, you will take ownership of control design, risk monitoring, and process improvement across multiple asset classes and regional business lines, giving you broad exposure to markets products, risk frameworks, and senior stakeholders worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement effective controls to mitigate operational and compliance risks, documenting them in the firm's control inventory and ensuring they meet all applicable policy, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct independent, comprehensive reviews of control effectiveness, including designing and assessing testing procedures and formally evaluating control performance against established thresholds.
  • Identify emerging risks and control gaps proactively, escalate findings to risk management partners, and lead the issue management process from root cause analysis through to timely remediation.
  • Manage and support control reviews, audits, and compliance assurance activities across all lines of defense, including providing business support for Manager's Control Assessment requirements.
  • Review new and modified business processes to ensure controls are embedded by design and are sufficient to manage associated risks before implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and streamline control processes, partnering with control execution teams to embed best practices and drive sustainable efficiencies.
  • Support production teams in developing remediation plans and maintaining adequate documentation for issues and corrective action plans, and contribute to control-related forums and senior updates.
  • Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in risk and controls, process review, internal or external audit, compliance, or operational risk management within financial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement sustainable control solutions and improve processes within a risk and controls function in the financial industry.
  • Working knowledge of global markets businesses and the risk and control frameworks that govern them.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risk issues, evaluate control effectiveness, and develop practical solutions.
  • Clear and confident communicator with the ability to engage senior leaders, audit partners, and cross-functional stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Share Point.
  • Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in audit or a comparable risk and control discipline within the financial services industry.
  • Track record of working effectively within multicultural or geographically distributed teams across multiple lines of business.
  • Ability to self-identify emerging control issues and develop creative, fit-for-purpose responses without waiting for direction.
