We are seeking an Equity Quantitative Research Analyst to join our Equity Research team in London. In this role, you will work closely with senior research analysts and strategists to develop differentiated quantitative insights, stock-selection frameworks, and thematic research for institutional investors, including asset managers, pension funds, hedge funds, and sovereign wealth funds. The successful candidate will bring a unique blend of equity research, quantitative modelling, machine learning, and platform development expertise, with the ability to translate complex datasets into differentiated investment insights while driving innovation across the research process. The role is primarily focused on developing and enhancing proprietary quantitative models that integrate bottom-up fundamental analysis with macroeconomic insights, while also contributing to the expansion of scalable research tools, analytical frameworks, and infrastructure that support the production of client-facing research and institutional client engagement.
Responsibilities
- Quantitative Equity Research & Alpha Modelling - Develop, enhance, and maintain quantitative models designed to identify investment opportunities across global equity markets. Conduct cross-sectional and time-series research on equity alpha generating ideas using a mixture of fundamental, technical, macro and alternative time series signals to generate actionable insights.
- Research & Publication Support - Contribute to the production of high-impact, client-facing research reports and regular near term tactical and thematic market updates. Translate complex quantitative findings into clear, compelling investment narratives for institutional investors.
- Data Infrastructure & Research Platform Development - Design, maintain, and evolve the quantitative equity research platform through the integration of agentic AI capabilities, advanced analytics, and scalable research infrastructure across market, fundamental, and alternative datasets. Develop automated workflows and intelligent research tools that enhance the end-to-end research process, from idea generation and signal discovery through to analysis, visualization, and publication.
- Client Analytics & Custom Research - Conduct bespoke quantitative analyses to support both internal and external stakeholders. Support client interactions by providing data-driven insights on factor performance, sector positioning, market expectations, earnings trends, and portfolio exposures.
Qualifications
- Education - Undergraduate degree with significant quantitative research experience or MSc/MEng / PHD in Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Technical Skills - Highly proficient in programming (R/Python/Java) and the use of modern quantitative financial libraries and toolkits. Strong SQL skills are preferred. Familiarity with source control tooling (Git) and software engineering best practices is highly desirable.
- Quantitative & Market Knowledge - Strong understanding of equity market structure and investment processes, with expertise in cross-sectional and time-series modelling, factor research, and the application of statistical and machine learning techniques to investment research and alpha generation.
- Communication & Intellectual Curiosity - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate sophisticated quantitative concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated passion for financial markets, investment research, and continuous innovation in quantitative methodologies.
