The FX Partnerships Product team sits within the wider FX Product team in Markets. This team is responsible for partnering with other divisions within Citi in delivering FX solutions to clients leveraging Citi’s significant FX franchise. Specifically, the team partners with the Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), and Securities Services organisations with supporting FX capabilities. Citi’s Custody FX franchise supports clients in 70+ currencies through a variety of channels, pricing styles and workflow solutions. With one of the largest FX franchises and onshore local markets capability and reach, this role represents a significant opportunity to contribute directly to Citi's strategic objectives, shaping the future of financial services. This area is going through significant platform and product transformation and is critical to Citi's strategic initiative in FX.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Custody FX product manager to join our FX Partnerships Product team focused on supporting, transforming and growing the Custody FX business. This role will be instrumental in driving the strategic development, management, and execution of change for FX for Custody clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying market opportunities, fostering strategic alliances, and delivering cutting‑edge FX products that meet the evolving needs of our clients and enhance our competitive position.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Product Development & Innovation: Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new FX product opportunities and innovation initiatives focused on Custody FX, aligning with the overall business strategy. Work closely with other product managers, the product development team, technology and partners to deliver Custody FX transformation. Working with management, sales and other partners to create client‑driven product roadmaps and strategy informed by market research and competitor analysis. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Custody, Sales, Trading, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk) to ensure product feasibility, regulatory adherence, and successful launch.
- Clients & Partnership Management: Work closely with select clients in partnership with different business units to create compelling solutions. Source, evaluate, and establish strategic partnerships with Citi’s Services business, technology providers, and other external entities that can enhance our FX product offering. Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk frameworks. Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners, fostering collaborative environments for joint product development and go‑to‑market strategies. Monitor partnership performance and identify opportunities for optimization and growth.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Manage the end‑to‑end product lifecycle for assigned FX products, from ideation to launch, growth, and eventual retirement. Work with product managers and developers to elaborate requirements and build cutting‑edge FX products suitable for institutional clients. Oversee product testing, validation, and quality assurance processes. Monitor product performance, gather client feedback, and iterate on product features and enhancements. Ensure products comply with all relevant internal policies and external regulations.
- Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes impacting the FX market. Represent the firm at industry conferences, seminars, and client engagements, positioning as a thought leader. Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices within the FX product team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: Experience in product management within the financial services industry, with a strong focus on foreign exchange (FX) products. Solid understanding of FX markets, risk management, trading mechanisms and regulatory landscape. Custody FX experience required in at least 2 of the following: auto FX, direct dealing, currency overlay and hedging solutions. Understanding of direct dealing and efx connectivity related to institutional client flow. Knowledge of investment lifecycle, cash management and FX exposure management in portfolios. Understanding of regulation differences in local markets vs offshore. Proven track record of successfully launching new products and managing product lifecycles. Experience of custody agnostic workflows, execution, and settlement.
