Citi is looking for a senior analyst or junior associate to join the Capital Strategy

The CSS team originates, structures and executes hybrid capital and other structured fixed income transactions for banks, insurers and corporates in the capital markets, working in close partnership with Debt Capital Markets (DCM). It also advises issuers globally on capital structure and the debt market consequences of broader regulatory developments, such as bank resolution, bail-in, and the implementation of Basel 4.

The broader Financial Strategy Group advises clients in M&A and capital markets transactions on the full spectrum of corporate finance issues; focusing on capital structure, credit ratings, funding strategy, valuation, cost of capital, shareholder returns and distributions, capital allocation, and liquidity management, among others. The group also produces broader theme pieces on current topics that have significant implications for clients.

  • Coordinating and preparing pitch documents
  • Structuring/executing transactions and preparing/reviewing transaction documentation
  • Liaising with DCM/Banking/TEG/Legal teams
  • Modelling/analysing client balance sheets and capital requirements
  • Keeping DCM/Banking teams up to date with regulatory/rating agency developments
  • Helping to manage and develop junior members of CSS

Development Value:

  • The role provides a blend of marketing and structuring experience with a market-leading team in a demanding environment. It would be a good platform for more senior origination/structuring roles.

Knowledge/Experience/Competencies:

  • Ideally 3 years+ of capital markets / investment banking experience
  • Previous legal, regulatory, accounting, tax and/or rating agency experience would be an advantage
  • Fluent English is a prerequisite (other languages would be an advantage but not essential)
  • Requires high calibre written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong comfort with numerical/modelling/analytical tasks
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure
  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Planning and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work independently under general instructions
