The FX Trader will be responsible for executing foreign exchange trades, managing risk exposure, and contributing to the overall profitability of the FX trading desk.
Responsibilities
- Execute foreign exchange spot, forward, swap, and option trades efficiently and accurately on behalf of the firm and its clients.
- Continuously monitor global economic indicators, geopolitical events, and market trends to identify trading opportunities and anticipate market movements.
- Manage proprietary trading positions within established risk limits, utilizing hedging strategies to mitigate potential losses.
- Contribute to the profitability of the FX desk by generating trading revenue and managing costs effectively.
- Develop and implement effective trading strategies and models, adapting to changing market conditions and regulatory environments.
- Act as a market maker, providing competitive quotes and liquidity to clients and internal desks.
- Collaborate with sales and relationship management teams to service client needs, provide market insights, and assist in developing client relationships.
- Ensure all trading activities adhere to internal policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
- Leverage advanced trading platforms, algorithms, and analytical tools to enhance trading performance and efficiency.
- Prepare and present trading reports, performance analysis, and market commentaries to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Master’s degree or CFA designation is a plus.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in FX trading, preferably at a major financial institution or hedge fund.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a trading book and generating consistent profits.
- Proficiency in various FX products, including spot, forwards, swaps, and options.
- Advanced analytical and numerical competency.
- Ability to analyze and pitch situations and determine suitable counterparties.
- Knowledge of Bloomberg, booking systems, trading protocol, closing technicalities.
- Comprehensive understanding of global foreign exchange markets, macroeconomic drivers, technical analysis, and market microstructure.
- Strong understanding of market risk, credit risk, and operational risk, with proven ability to manage these effectively.
- Advanced proficiency with trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, EBS, Refinitiv Matching), Excel, and financial modeling.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or VBA for data analysis and strategy development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex market views and trading strategies clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, sharing insights and contributing to collective success.
