Overview

The Corporate Banking Senior Analyst in UK Industrials is an intermediate level professional responsible for providing bespoke capital structure expertise and corporate finance advice to clients. The Analyst is expected to work with Senior Bankers across the UK in business origination and execution across Citi\’s product set, with a focus on episodic and strategic financing transactions. The overall objective is to deliver content and drive revenue by cross selling the Citi platform while efficiently deploying the firm\’s capital and evaluating and managing risk.

Responsibilities

  • Relationship management of the UK Industrials portfolio comprised of metals & mining, shipping and aviation
  • Join the team with heavy focus on the UK Industrial sectors covering global corporates; deliver market-leading industry content and champion the delivery of Corporate Finance initiatives
  • Develop expertise in the Corporate Banking space with exposure to relationship teams and product specialists across Citi; collaborate with Investment Bank and product partners including Capital Markets (DCM, ECM, Acquisition & Project Finance, Leveraged Finance, etc.), Markets (Commodities, Derivatives, FX, etc.), Treasury & Trade Solutions (Trade Finance, Cash Management, etc.), and Corporate Finance / Lending initiatives
  • Provide analytical support, risk assessment and monitoring of existing and new relationships in the Industrials portfolio
  • Develop strong client relationships and be viewed as a sector specialist; engage directly with CFOs and Treasurers
  • Partner with Senior Bankers to provide overall relationship management support for UK Industrials clients and industry expertise for the wider sector
  • Be a member of deal teams for origination and execution of episodic and corporate finance transactions involving clients across the globe
  • Stay abreast of market and industry trends, best practices and competitive landscape
  • Conduct risk assessment and credit analysis of existing relationships, including periodic review of financial results and statements, liquidity, peer analysis and preparation of financial projections and sensitivity analyses
  • Develop client pitch materials, lead the execution of episodic transactions/financings, and foster ongoing relationships
  • Assist with day-to-day cash management activities, trading initiatives, foreign exchange, loan activity, debt and equity capital markets
  • Evaluate public filings, research reports, operations, business plans, and financial forecasts to produce strategic and financial analyses
  • Develop in-depth understanding of client dynamics and priorities to identify appropriate marketing opportunities; build strong internal relationships with product, risk and regional partners
  • Under the guidance provided by the FCA and PRA, assess fitness and propriety, including honesty, integrity, reputation, financial soundness, competence and capability
  • Comply with Certification Regime requirements; participate in interviews, disclosures, background checks, and annual fitness and propriety declarations

Qualifications

  • Strong experience working in a corporate bank, financing or a capital markets / investment banking role
  • Corporate Finance mindset with strong understanding of drivers of capital structure
  • Strong credit skills and experience executing episodic transactions
  • Quantitative, accounting and financial modelling skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, notably Excel and PowerPoint
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor\’s/University degree or equivalent experience; MBA or Master’s degree in Business preferred (Accounting & Corporate Finance)
  • Counterparty credit analysis and risk assessment
  • Understanding of legal documentation such as loan agreements and ISDAs
  • Leadership in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and sustain client relationships while balancing Citi\’s priorities
  • Self-starter with initiative and judgment to seek assistance when needed
  • Networking ability; maintaining close contact with product and risk specialists within Citi
