The Digital, Technology & Communications (DT&C) coverage team provides Citi’s unique global commercial banking coverage to fintech companies, in all stages of their growth, operating across a wide range of sub‑sectors including Payments, FX, Open Banking, Wealth Tech, Infrastructure, Financing and more. We support our clients by providing traditional commercial banking products & solutions, as well as investment banking, capital markets and M&A advisory services.
This new and exciting Relationship Associate role has become available due to the growth across the sector over the past 12 months. The role will be reporting to the CCB UK Head of DT&C and will be based out of London (Canary Wharf). The primary responsibility of the Relationship Associate will be to support the Relationship Managers in servicing the banking & financing needs of fintech clients, deepening existing client relationships and acquiring & onboarding new commercial banking clients across the UK DT&C sector.
Responsibilities- Builds relationships with client network and operational teams, becoming a key contact for internal requests/problem escalation and resolution.
- Ensures timely completion of Know Your Client (KYC) and other regulatory requirements, in partnership with product partners and Relationship Managers.
- Develop and maintain strong ties with Commercial Banking teams across the globe, in particular CCB colleagues working across the same sector vertical (DT&C) and CCB colleagues supporting subsidiary businesses overseas (Commercial Subsidiaries Group).
- Primary point of contact for client onboarding, working on customer due diligence, internal system set up and record creation for both new, existing and prospective clients.
- Liaise both with the client and internal KYC / AML teams to handle requests and documentation related to client on-boarding.
- Close interaction with operational teams throughout the KYC renewal process.
- Ensure sufficient controls are in place for all new and existing clients, through the established KYC / AML process and lead any control or remediation requirements.
- Proficient use of internal systems and applications in order to obtain, store and manage data in relation to credit, KYC, account management and client reporting.
- Maintains correct client legal and marketing hierarchies.
- Assists in implementation of cash transactions for the Relationship Manager.
- Coordinates credit requests and approvals from Citi’s global network.
- Develop a deep understanding of the client. Build meaningful relationships helping to support with routine banking, credit queries, service escalations and introductions to teams across Citi’s global network.
- Responsible for driving client opportunities through CRM, initiate CRM workflow for account opening and other Treasury & Trade Solution (TTS) products.
- Take ownership of all documentation related queries and wider implementation during onboarding phase.
- Partners with Credit Admin team to ensure credit documentation is kept current: FX, derivatives, Loans, LCs and other credit‑related documents.
- Partners with Credit Admin team to monitor usage of credit lines, and partnering with Independent Risk during client Annual Reviews.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding.
- Previous banking experience. Working within Commercial/Corporate banking is desirable.
- Experience in a Client Relationship role or client facing role.
- Knowledge of general banking processes, onboarding processes and cash management & liquidity.
- Commercial/Corporate Banking skills.
