Overview
The Securities Settlements team is a critical component of our global Operations division, responsible for the timely and accurate settlement of securities transactions across all asset classes. Operating in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment, the team acts as the central hub for post‑trade processing, ensuring that all obligations arising from our trading activities are met efficiently and without operational risk. The Securities Settlements Technology team builds, maintains, and transforms the platforms that enable this timely and accurate settlement. The team is currently engaged in a multi‑year strategic program to modernise our settlement platforms, enhance automation, and adapt to evolving market regulations, such as the transition to T+1 settlement cycles. We partner directly with Front Office trading desks, Operations, Finance, Custodians, and Clearing Houses to deliver robust, scalable, and resilient technology solutions. What You’ll Do
- Lead workshops and interviews (virtual and in‑person) with business stakeholders to elicit, analyse, validate, and document business requirements for new systems and process improvements.
- Collaborate with architects and developers to translate business requirements into functional specifications and solution designs, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with strategic goals.
- Create and maintain high‑quality documentation, including Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, user stories, use cases, and process flow diagrams.
- Act as the primary liaison between business users and technology teams, managing expectations and ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Investigate and analyse complex settlement issues, exceptions, and failures to identify root causes and propose strategic, long‑term solutions.
- Define and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), assist in troubleshooting, and provide expert guidance during the implementation of new solutions.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert on securities settlement processes, market practices, and system functionalities.
Requirements
- Proven 5+ years as a Business Analyst in the financial services industry, preferably in a global investment bank or similar institution.
- Deep understanding of the end‑to‑end securities settlement lifecycle, including equities, fixed income, and other financial instruments.
- Strong familiarity with post‑trade processing, including trade capture, matching, clearing, and settlement.
- Knowledge of major clearing houses, depositories (e.g., CREST, DTC, Euroclear), and settlement messaging standards (e.g., SWIFT MT5xx series).
- Demonstrable experience on large‑scale change or technology projects, with understanding of waterfall and agile (Scrum/Kanban) methodologies.
- Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to dissect complex issues and make data‑driven recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Desirable Experience
- Experience using AI‑related analysis tools and Agentic‑AI solutions.
- Experience with settlement platforms or other large‑scale in‑house systems.
- Experience with data analysis and querying using SQL.
- Familiarity with modern business analysis tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- A formal BA and/or PM certification (e.g., PMP).
