Overview
The Master and Reference Data Strategy Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing the activities to operationalise the governance framework and supporting processes to effectively govern Reference and Master Data with the Data Governance team.
The overall objective is to support the creation, maintenance and adoption of a unified and consistently defined fit-for-purpose enterprise-wide Master and Reference Data domains.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of people.
- Oversee management of people, budget, and planning, including duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary action/terminations, and may include budget approval.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including day‑to‑day execution activities and meetings.
- Implement relevant processes to govern domain level and data lifecycle capabilities to ensure all relevant governance forums and working groups are functioning efficiently.
- Create front‑to‑back business requirements by leveraging deep understanding of MRD business process flow and procedures.
- Ensure frequent, reliable, and relevant communication and documentation to a varied group of stakeholders.
- Define and implement Master and Reference data governance and operations processes, framework components.
- Support adoption of standards and capabilities so they are consistent, enterprise‑wide.
- Partner with functions and businesses to ensure governance objectives, framework and processes are understood and aligned, and meet the needs and regulatory requirements.
- Guide team or project leads to effectively support key stakeholders on the adoption of the Master and Reference Data Governance frameworks.
- Review governance metrics, including Master and Reference data governance adoption and maturity data/metrics.
- Ensure alignment to the Enterprise Data Governance policy and standards to meet its specific requirements.
- Ensure Enterprise Reference Data processes and tooling are adopted in a manner that creates value for businesses to adopt.
- Identify gaps in current data domain and lifecycle governance and management processes.
- Prepare executive/management level reporting and other regulator‑required updates.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience, banking or finance industry preferred.
- Demonstrated data analyst and process engineering skillset in master and reference data domains in the financial/banking industry.
- Strong understanding of various project management methodologies and tools.
- Ability to monitor tight deadlines and/or unexpected requirement changes.
- Effective collaborator, able to build relationships and partnerships with others to meet shared objectives.
- Communicates effectively and in a way that conveys a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
- Experience in managing and implementing successful projects.
- High degree of initiative and personal accountability, self‑starter and highly motivated.
- Strong analytic and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of basic Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience; potentially master’s degree in change management, data analysis, data governance, data quality, emerging tools and technologies, internal controls, program management.
