The Head of Business Execution for Financial Institutions (FI) Sales is a senior Director-level leadership role within Citi's Services organization, responsible for driving the strategic planning, operational excellence, and business management agenda for the global FI Sales business. This is a role for a seasoned leader who brings the credibility, gravitas, and strategic acuity to influence at the most senior levels of the organization. Operating at the intersection of strategy, data, and execution, the incumbent will be focused on work that drives competitive advantage: insight generation, strategic narrative, cross‑functional influence, and decisive action.
Leading a team of four senior professionals, the role reports to the Head of FI Sales, with a matrix reporting line to the Head of Services Sales Business Execution.
Responsibilities- Own the FI Sales business management agenda end‑to‑end, leveraging AI‑powered reporting and analytics platforms to synthesize revenue, pipeline, and client performance data – then lead the analytical narrative, surface key trends, and drive action planning.
- Partner with FI Sales Leadership to formulate and execute the annual strategic planning and financial planning cycle for FI, partnering with Finance, Product, and Sales leadership to align investment priorities, headcount plans, and technology spend with global and regional growth objectives; oversee financial performance and manage expenses with full P&L accountability.
- Serve as the strategic nerve center for FI leadership, translating complex, multi‑source business intelligence into clear, senior‑ready recommendations on resource allocation, client prioritization, corridor strategy, and growth initiatives – using AI‑generated insights as a foundation for judgment‑driven decision‑making.
- Own the FI performance management framework, including the design, continuous refinement, and governance of KPIs, scorecards, and dashboards that provide real‑time visibility into business health, pipeline momentum, and revenue trajectory across the global FI franchise.
- Develop and execute go‑to‑market strategies for FI, identifying high‑potential client segments, industry verticals, and geographic corridors based on trade flow analysis, market intelligence, and AI‑assisted opportunity mapping – ensuring alignment with global sector and coverage priorities.
- Establish and maintain dynamic governance and communication processes across the FI leadership team, including structured forums for performance review, risk escalation, and strategic alignment with global partners.
- Drive operational efficiency and standardization of processes and practices across the business.
- Lead strategic business initiatives, working closely with partners to ensure end‑to‑end execution accountability and on‑time delivery of key deliverables.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a team of senior business execution professionals, setting a high bar for analytical excellence, strategic thinking, and collaborative delivery – and creating an environment where top talent is retained and grown.
- Champion AI fluency and modern ways of working across the FI organization, modeling the effective use of AI tools and continuously evolving how the team generates insight, communicates performance, and delivers value to senior stakeholders.
- Partner with HR to drive people and organizational development initiatives, including resource allocation, talent development and culture and engagement initiatives.
- Act as an influential and credible leader within the FI and broader Services leadership ecosystem, building strong partnerships across Sales, Product, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Risk – and representing the FI business execution function with authority in senior forums.
- Experienced Director or equivalent, 15+ years of relevant experience with a demonstrated track record of operating effectively and independently at this level.
- Solid experience in Financial Services, with significant leadership experience in business execution, business management, strategy, or a COO/Chief of Staff function within a large, complex global organization.
- Deep familiarity with Financial Institutions and Services product offerings, including a solid understanding of FI client segments, institutional product sets (e.g., Treasury & Trade Solutions, Securities Services, FX, Custody), and the revenue and relationship dynamics that drive the franchise.
- Proven ability to translate data and analytics into strategic insight and action, including experience designing and managing KPI dashboards, and executive‑level reporting in an AI‑augmented environment.
- Strong financial acumen, including hands‑on experience with P&L oversight, financial planning, expense management, and investment prioritization across a complex business.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, multi‑source information into clear, compelling narratives for C‑suite leaders, regulators, and cross‑functional stakeholders across geographies.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and managing multiple high‑priority workstreams simultaneously, with end‑to‑end accountability for delivery in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment.
