Team/Role Overview
The FX Corporate Sales business is a key segment of our wider FX business, supporting the fast-growing Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) in Western Europe. The main responsibility of the role is to promote a complete foreign exchange and flow derivatives service. Clients will be both HQ or subsidiary clients based in U.K.
Citi's Commercial Bank works with businesses and commercial customers who have annual sales ranging from $100 million to $4 billion. As a member of the broader Corporate Sales team in Western Europe, your job will be to find ways for our clients to maximize their growth while taking full advantage of Citi's broad range of products. CCB FX salespeople are relationship-focused finance professionals responsible for understanding the wide range of complex financial issues facing clients in the region.
What you’ll do
- Work in close cooperation with banking teams to acquire clients and develop existing relationships to increase revenues in all aspects of the FX business
- Successful applicant will be the main FX point of contact for a number of U.K. CCB banking teams, they will be responsible for the FX relationships amongst this client base and the needs of those clients, be they simple or complex.
- Ability to support senior members of team on more complex transactions
- Support FX execution, onboarding and documentation needs of the wider FX corporate sales team and their clients
- Monitor and contribute to the CCB performance within the FX business according to the budget.
- Assisting clients on non-market risk management challenges, for example, balance sheet, cash-flow/earnings risk analysis, and strategic, episodic driven hedging discussions. Comfortable requesting support from more experienced colleagues or teams where required
- Initiate and participate in marketing activities to support customer acquisition.
- Requirement to build a strong internal Citi network across trading, structuring, banking, risk, cash management, trade, corporate solutions, private and investment bank
- Build relationships with related sales and solutions groups across FX, Markets and Banking to help source origination opportunities and promote cross selling between business lines.
- Contribute commercialization of the products recently launched. Initiate marketing activities to support customer acquisition.
- Organize training and knowledge sharing for Commercial Bank teams working closely with Product Partners for both new hires and ongoing training.
- Ensure compliance with internal product and credit programs/policies and relevant country regulations.
- Act in the best ethical way and in line with Citi’s Policies and Standards.
What we’ll need from you
- Experience working with corporate clients to support their foreign exchange needs across flow products and derivatives
- Understanding of risk management tools and techniques.
- Basic understanding of hedge accounting is helpful but not critical
- Basic knowledge of options, derivatives and digital solutions for FX.
- Good knowledge of the overall client / bank relationships
- Experience expanding an FX business and demonstrating strong yoy growth
- Experience of clients using multi-bank FX platforms.
- Understanding how treasury needs differ across Citi’s client base, e.g. private company / venture backed / private equity owned / listed businesses
- Strong sales, presentation and negotiation skills
- Ability to understand FX from within a company’s annual reports.
- Profound understanding of macro-economics and the interdependencies of asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Foreign Exchange).
- Degree in Finance, Economics or Legal will be preferred
Candidates applying for this role must be aware that it is a Certified Role, subject to the FCA and PRA Certification Regime.

In order to comply with the requirements of the Certification Regime, Citi entities must take reasonable care to ensure that an employee does not perform a Certified Role without first being certified as Fit and Proper. For this reason, you will be assessed for this role against the Fit and Proper requirements, as described above.
This assessment will be carried out through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening checks.
