This is an exceptional opportunity to join Citi's CEEMEA Cash Equities Trading desk in London as an Assistant Vice President. You will be responsible for executing cash equity orders, making markets, and managing risk across the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa equity markets. The role requires a deep understanding of market microstructure, strong relationships with local brokers and institutional clients, and the ability to manage complex risk profiles under volatile market conditions. You will work closely with sales trading, research, and technology teams to deliver best-in-class execution services to our diverse client base, including asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds, and sovereign wealth funds.
Primary Responsibilities of the Role:
- Execute client orders across CEEMEA cash equity markets with precision, ensuring best execution standards while managing market impact and optimizing trading costs for institutional clients including asset managers, hedge funds, and pension funds.
- Make markets and provide liquidity in CEEMEA equities, actively quoting prices, managing inventory positions, and responding to client inquiries in real-time across multiple exchanges and trading venues.
- Manage trading risk by monitoring and controlling exposure to market, credit, and operational risks; implementing hedging strategies; and ensuring compliance with firm-wide risk limits and regulatory requirements in a volatile emerging markets environment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local brokers, exchanges, and institutional clients across the CEEMEA region, leveraging market intelligence to identify trading opportunities and deliver tailored execution solutions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales trading, equity research, derivatives, and technology teams to provide comprehensive market insights, support client coverage, and contribute to the development of innovative trading strategies and electronic execution tools.
- Monitor market developments including macroeconomic trends, geopolitical events, regulatory changes, and corporate actions across CEEMEA markets, translating insights into actionable trading strategies and client recommendations.
What We Need from You:
- Proven experience in cash equities trading, preferably with exposure to emerging markets, EMEA, or CEEMEA equities, demonstrating a strong track record of execution, market making, and risk management in fast-paced trading environments.
- Deep understanding of market microstructure including order types, execution algorithms, liquidity dynamics, and the regulatory landscape across multiple CEEMEA exchanges and trading venues.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex market data, financial models, and research reports; proficiency in Excel is essential, and experience with programming languages such as Python, VBA, or SQL is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to interact effectively with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders; ability to articulate market views clearly and provide actionable insights under pressure.
- Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment characterized by market volatility, geopolitical uncertainty, and rapid technological change; demonstrated agility, tenacity, and a will-to-win in complex situations.
- Language skills are a strong advantage; proficiency in languages relevant to the CEEMEA region (such as Arabic, Russian, Turkish, or Polish) in addition to fluent English would be highly valued.
