Citi is looking to hire a KDB+ Software Engineer into its Equities Global Data and Analytics group in Belfast, UK. This role involves designing, implementing, and deploying timeseries based software systems that offer our Equities Trading Clients with best-in-class Analytics. The engineer will be part of the Global team that captures trading, market data and computes pre-trade, at trade and post-trade analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the design and development of real-time market data and analytics systems, leading KDB+/q development for trading and analytics platforms.
  • Own technical delivery, and collaborate with Traders, Quants, and Global Technology teams to build high-performance, low-latency solutions.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas.
  • Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users.
  • Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Significant relevant experience.
  • Proven experience working in KDB+/q.
  • KDB+ proficiency: Deep understanding and experience with KDB+ databases and the Q programming language.
  • Programming Languages: Strong skills in Q/KDB+, Java and Python/PyKX.
  • Good understanding of Linux/UNIX, OS tuning.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast and exchange specific protocols (FIX, OUCH, ITCH).
  • Proven track record in profiling and optimizing for latency.
  • Strong debugging and trouble shooting skills, especially under production load.
  • Experienced in working within an agile framework to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Understanding of Market Microstructure, Connectivity, Smart Order Routers, Algorithmic Trading Systems will be a plus.

Education:

Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
