This enterprise-wide initiative prioritises risk and controls, regulatory compliance, process re-engineering, automation, talent development, data transformation, technology investment, and superior client service. Joining Citi in Belfast places you at the forefront of this global transformation, directly shaping the future of Markets Operations. We cultivate an inclusive and engaging environment, fostering diversity of thought and investing significantly in professional development. This role offers unparalleled growth, global exposure, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact within a dynamic team.

The Markets Operations Business Intelligence (BI) team is central to this transformation. We collaborate with various Operations teams, delivering critical insights into the health of our operational processes. Through a data-driven approach, we identify areas for enhancement and strategically align investments to maximise efficiency and impact across our global operations.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an inquisitive and highly motivated Business Intelligence Sr Analyst (AVP) to join our Markets Operations BI team in Belfast. This unique opportunity empowers you to directly influence the trajectory of Citi's Markets Operations by implementing innovative data analytics and dashboarding solutions. You will enable Operations teams to achieve a comprehensive understanding of their processes, identify friction points, mitigate risks, and elevate client service. While strong BI technical skills are foundational, success in this role demands a proactive, deep engagement with core business processes. We seek an individual driven to critically question, challenge conventional methods, and relentlessly pursue inefficiencies, rather than passively awaiting problems.

What you'll do

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner closely with Markets Operations management and technology stakeholders to define and execute the analytics agenda, prioritising high-value use cases aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Proactive Analysis & Problem Solving: Beyond addressing identified bottlenecks, proactively deep-dive into operational processes. Employ data and insightful questioning to uncover underlying challenges and systemic inefficiencies. Leverage data to substantiate evaluations and recommend process health improvements.
  • Data-Driven Hypothesis Validation: Conduct rigorous statistical analysis using business data to prove or disprove hypotheses related to process friction, risk exposure, and client behaviour.
  • Actionable Insights & Implementation: Produce detailed analyses of complex issues, recommending clear courses of action, even when solutions are not immediately apparent, and actively support their successful implementation.
  • Solution Design & Development: Design, develop, and implement robust data analytics and dashboarding solutions that deliver clear, actionable insights into operational performance and efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong, effective working relationships with Operations stakeholders at all levels. Conduct in-depth interviews to thoroughly understand business functions, pain points, and risks from the user’s perspective.
  • Program Contribution: Contribute to the delivery and management of technical data programs spanning multiple businesses and geographies.
  • Change Leadership: Drive change within a collaborative, agile team environment, adeptly adapting to evolving requirements and tight deadlines.

What we need from you

  • Advanced SQL: Demonstrated proficiency with SQL and relational databases for complex data querying and manipulation.
  • BI Visualization: Proven experience in creating effective and sophisticated dashboards using leading BI visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview).
  • Data Storytelling: Ability to effectively query and join disparate large datasets, perform complex analysis, and translate findings into compelling narratives and actionable solutions.
  • ETL/Data Prep (Desirable): Experience with ETL solutions such as Alteryx, Tableau Prep, or PowerQuery.
  • Programming (Desirable): Experience with Python, R, or PySpark for advanced analytics.
  • Proactive Business Acumen & Inquisitiveness: Possess an exceptionally inquisitive, curious, and critical thinking mindset. Demonstrate a genuine drive to deeply understand underlying business functions, friction points, and risks by asking challenging questions (e.g., "why is this process necessary?", "what value does this step add?"). Exhibit a natural aversion to inefficiency and a passion for identifying logical, streamlined solutions.
  • Communication & Influence: Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, coupled with excellent client servicing and presentation abilities. Capable of clearly articulating complex insights and influencing stakeholders towards data-driven decisions.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Strong ability to establish, build, and maintain effective working relationships across diverse teams, including a proven aptitude for coaching and mentoring.
  • Results-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of virtual teams to deliver strategic outcomes, managing tight deadlines and adapting to evolving requirements.
