We require a motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to support our Processing team at our Cape Preston operation. This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis, working an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth. In this role you will be responsible for tasks associated with the technical review and inspection on maintenance of the Concentrator’s area assets, to increase plant reliability and availability. The mechanical engineer is required to provide engineering advice, expertise, training and technical recommendations to maintenance & engineering team in accordance to relevant engineering standards and business goals.
Role Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Duty of Care, CPM policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Optimize equipment availability to support production targets.
- Manage area administration and inspections, meeting cost, time, downtime, and safety targets.
- Develop equipment-specific EI standards, greasing standards, and inspection plans/forms.
- Perform daily equipment inspections (DEI), guide OEI inspectors, and address defects or threats.
- Create task lists for planned and shutdown maintenance work.
- Plan materials and spare parts for maintenance.
- Analyse equipment deterioration trends through EI data.
- Contribute to analysis of equipment failures and suggest repair, prevention, and improvement plans.
- Analyse maintenance costs, failure data, and propose improvements.
- Report monthly/yearly maintenance costs, hours, breakdowns, and materials to leadership.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all times.
Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Maintenance engineering working knowledge and sound understanding of regulatory environment for Australian mining/heavy industry.
- Solid understanding and experience working with a variety of plant processing equipment – HPGR, crushers, conveyors, mills, slurry pumps, feeders, piping systems, etc.
- A current WA Manual Drivers licence is an essential requirement.
