The Senior Analyst leads the fundamental strategy and analytical needs of the European Power desk at Citi, providing power forecasts from day-ahead to long-term horizon up to 10 years. In coordination with the Trading team, the overall objective of this role is to create ideas for market hedging, relative value opportunities and long-term investment decisions.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the build out and maintenance of the data analytics, European power stack and a data visualization hub for the desk.
  • Assist in recognising relative value market opportunities and hedging strategies through a fundamental approach and propose trading strategies to monetise those fundamental views.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Research and other organisations across Markets and Securities Services and the broader business to provide updates and views for the European Power market.
  • Work with the trading desk and strategists to identify and value opportunities on long-term investments in power.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you.
  • Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for the role, within the appropriate timeframe.
Recommended Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years experience in a Power role with deep fundamental knowledge of European markets (mainly CWE, SEE, UK).
  • Knowledge of European power stack from a flow-based market coupling perspective.
  • Knowledge of hydro optimisation modelling, nuclear modulation modelling, wind/solar and residual demand modelling.
  • Experience interacting daily with traders, assisting with discovery of relative value market opportunities (CSS, CLS, cross border, time spreads) and participating in the creation of trading strategies.
  • Strong data analytics knowledge.
Education:
  • Masters degree/University degree in Economics or STEM topic.
