Citi is looking for talented individuals to join our Quantitative Analysis off‑cycle placement programme within the Markets team in London. Markets at Citi provides world‑class solutions that are as sophisticated and diverse as the needs of the corporates, institutions, governments and individual investors we serve in 160 countries and territories. We work on trading floors in over 80 countries, enriching client relationships around the clock. The breadth and depth of our underwriting, structuring, securitisation, sales and trading and distribution capabilities span asset classes and currencies, sectors and industries. And our expertise covers a vast array of products including equities, commodities, credit, futures and foreign exchange (FX).

Your time here will look something like this. Our placements run from three to six months with flexibility on start dates. We're committed to teaching you the ropes. As an incoming placement analyst, you will be placed in Quantitative Analysis, Structuring, or Exotics Trading. Here, new insights from the worlds of finance and academia drive innovation and excellence in mathematical and quantitative trading. Working alongside our experienced professionals, incoming analysts will have the opportunity to actively participate and develop their skills in the above areas. At the end of your placement, successful analysts will be considered for a place on a full‑time programme.

What you’ll do

  • We’ll empower you to create, implement, and manage the mathematical models that drive our success within the Markets business.
  • We’ll offer you the opportunity to price, trade, and manage the risk associated with our diverse range of market products.
  • We’ll enable you to collaborate with traders and salespeople in technical product areas, providing crucial assistance in addressing client needs.
  • We’ll support your innovation by encouraging you to develop new products that align with our firm’s risk framework.
  • We’ll give you the platform to market new products to salespeople and occasionally assist in presenting these solutions directly to clients.
  • We’ll give you the opportunity to respond to client‑specific requests for product solutions, leveraging your expertise and creativity.

What we’ll need from you

  • You have obtained or are in the process of obtaining a Masters or PhD in Engineering, Maths, Physics, Computer Science or other scientific disciplines.
  • You have a good understanding of finance and an interest in Markets.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft office, especially Excel.
  • Your knowledge of programming languages (VBA, Python) is highly desirable.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with a strong attention to detail and exceptional planning and organisational skills.
  • You are intellectually curious and proactively seek out new and creative ideas.
  • You are a self‑starter who thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a strong commitment to personal growth and career development, including mobility and flexibility.
  • You have an unwavering commitment to integrity and ethical decision‑making.
  • You are fluent in written and spoken English.
