By joining Citi, you will become part of a global organisation whose mission is to serve as a trusted partner to our clients by responsibly providing financial services that enable growth and economic progress.

Team/Role Overview:

The Business Design and Delivery team is central to Citi's multi-year Payments Modernisation program. This SVP role will work across Domestic, Cross-Border, Clearing, and Emerging Payments to ensure the highest standards of business design and governance are applied to our strategic initiatives. You will take full ownership of key functional domains within the payment processing workflow, working in a close, collaborative partnership with colleagues in Technology, Operations, Product, Sales, and other critical functions. The role requires establishing and maintaining high-quality relationships with geographically distributed teams to deliver world-class capabilities that enhance Citi's competitive advantage.

What you'll do:
  • Define, establish, and mature the business design and implementation framework for the Payments Modernisation program, ensuring alignment with the broader Payments and Services business strategy and enterprise standards.
  • Lead the strategic oversight for your owned functional domains, integrating business objectives with next-generation technical capabilities for payments processing.
  • Ensure functional requirements are high quality, complete, and created with a global perspective, driving consistency across different payment value streams.
  • Work closely with global and regional leads to facilitate strategic planning sessions, defining the scope, objectives, and key results for platform enhancements.
  • Partner with engineering and project teams throughout the delivery lifecycle—from requirements definition to implementation and validation—to ensure adherence to delivery standards.
  • Conduct continuous gap analysis between current and future state platform offerings, identifying areas for improvement, innovation, and strategic adjustments.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve cross-project dependencies and roadblocks through effective coordination and communication.
  • Effectively influence and align stakeholders across different functions and departments to achieve objectives.
What we'll need from you:

We are looking for a leader with a blend of domain expertise, technical fluency, and exceptional collaborative skills.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • Extensive experience in process modelling, design, and business analysis, with a proven ability to create high-quality, complete functional requirements and designs.
  • Deep domain awareness and expertise in Payments, including local (e.g., ACH) and cross-border (e.g., RTGS, Wires), SWIFT messaging, and emerging flows based on tokenised value.
  • Comfortable with modern technology concepts; able to engage in detailed reviews and discussions with teams across development, infrastructure, and production support.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Exposure to the efficient use of AI tooling to aid and enhance work quality and velocity is highly desirable.
Personal Attributes:
  • Very strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build and maintain high-quality relationships across a complex, global organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to formulate and deliver concise and well-articulated messages for a wide variety of audiences.
  • A structured, forward-looking, and methodical approach to work, with the ability to manage ambiguity and multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Resilient and calm in the face of pressure, with a focus on learning from setbacks.
  • A client-and-Citi-first attitude, balanced with a human-centred approach to working with colleagues at all levels.
What we can offer you:

The role is a significant leadership role in transforming our payments business and will have significant senior management exposure.
