Citi's Markets business is one of the world's leading franchises, spanning fixed income, currencies, commodities, equities, and prime finance across more than 160 countries. The business serves a broad and sophisticated global client base — from financial institutions and asset managers to corporates and sovereign entities — combining global reach with deep regional expertise.
Within this franchise, the Client Management Team operates as a strategic centre of gravity, working directly with Sales leadership to define priorities, sharpen the client agenda, and ensure the franchise is positioned to deliver strong, sustainable revenue growth. Citi's Client Management Team is looking to hire a VP-level client and sales strategy professional to help cover the EMEA Markets franchise. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and Client Strategy Head for UK, Europe and MEA, this individual will work alongside a range of Sales management stakeholders across asset classes, supporting both the definition and execution of key strategic priorities. The team's mission is clear: to be the trusted advisor to Markets Sales Management — helping position the client franchise for strong revenue growth coupled with robust returns.
Primary Responsibilities- Drive strategic projects to develop the client franchise and sales organisation, including opportunity evaluation for new and target markets and clients, evolution of client coverage models, performance metrics design, and Demarketing and Offboarding assessments.
- Partner with Sales management to execute core client strategy activities across the region — including wallet benchmarking, strategic data analysis, and client and business reviews — translating complex inputs into clear, actionable output.
- Develop and execute cross-asset initiatives to meet evolving client needs and drive greater coordination between businesses, with a consistent focus on revenue growth and robust returns across the EMEA footprint.
- Build and oversee efficient processes and tools that create capacity for the Sales organisation, identifying opportunities for improvement and leveraging technology and automation to reduce friction and increase effectiveness.
- Partner with Global and Regional Client Strategy teams, as well as Infrastructure and Technology stakeholders, to share best practice, align on priorities, and assist in monitoring progress against the Global Client Experience Goals.
- Identify key themes, validate analytics, and create actionable output for senior audiences, maintaining high standards for accuracy, rigour, and quality across all deliverables.
- Experience working in Markets, with a desire to go deep into products, client segments, and EMEA countries; a background in management consulting, business development, client strategy, or the front office is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to work with large volumes of data, derive meaningful conclusions, highlight limitations appropriately, and deliver work product to consistently high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Technical proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint as a baseline; experience in process automation or data analysis via coding (e.g., VBA or Python), Tableau, or other data tools is a significant advantage; familiarity with AI-enabled workflows is a plus.
- Strategic mindset and personal impact, with demonstrated experience advising senior stakeholders on strategic courses of action, taking ownership through to execution, and building buy-in through gravitas and clear verbal and written communication.
- Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to frame and communicate findings powerfully using data visualisation and written narrative tailored to senior audiences.
- Degree educated (BA, B.Com, or B.Sc. minimum; MBA is a plus), combined with a strong work ethic — organised, proactive, and highly motivated, comfortable managing multiple parallel workstreams, and bringing the intellectual curiosity, tenacity, and resilience required to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
