Products offered encompass high value payments, cross border payments, global clearing products, instant payments, collections, corporate cards and other specialized offerings.
The Payments Risk team, part of Services Risk Management, is the primary 2LOD team responsible for managing risks associated with all payment offerings, in partnership with other BIR teams as well as Operational Risk Management.
The Head of Payments Risk Management will be the senior risk manager for the global Payments Risk team of some 13 risk professionals located in the US, Europe and Asia. The candidate will manage the team and actively engage with all stakeholders in ensuring Citi’s product risk management approach remains best in class. The incumbent will also have a key role in interfacing with the Citi senior risk leadership team, and our regulators.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the Payments Risk team based in the US, UK, Singapore and India. Ensure cross training and development for all team members to increase bench strength and to aid succession planning

Senior risk partner for the Global Head of Payments and her team. Function as the risk sounding board for ideas and innovation in this fast evolving and highly competitive space

Global Responsibility for:

The Clearing Risk portfolio: Managing the portfolio and ensuring that limits remain appropriate to strike a balance between straight through processing, real time review of exceptional peaks, credit risk appetite, and fraud risk considerations.

37 Global Payments, Collections, and Card Programs: Setting Product Target Market and Risk Acceptance Criteria boundaries and approving exceptions. Collectively with other control functions, ensuring all risks are properly identified and mitigated

New Activity Committee participation to lead risk discussions on all rollouts, including groundbreaking new digital asset offerings

Risk representative on the Correspondent Banking Oversight Committee and the Payment Intermediary Oversight Committee

Intraday Liquidity Management with Treasury, including approval of the annaul Fed Debit Cap self-assessment

Primary Regulatory interface for all Payment Risk Management activities – OCC, Fed, PRA etc
Qualifications and Competencies:
Knowledge/Experience:
-
A solid understanding of industry trends, competition, product innovations, and potential disruptions in this highly competitive and rapidly changing area
-
Twenty or more years of experience in the Financial Services industry; and stature commensurate with the need for regular interactions with senior Services management, regulators, and internal audit as well as for managing regulatory examinations and audit reviews

In-depth knowledge of Products, Processes, and Systems supporting Payment products, given the interplay of operational and credit risks resulting from high value high volume activities

Sufficient familiarity with other key risk areas in a Services setting such as Operational and Compliance risks to be provide overall risk leadership in Payments

Proven experience of managing teams and influencing senior partner teams towards a common goal

Experience in driving own books of work and delivering against multiple initiatives

Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred

Seasoned Senior Credit Officer, preferably with experience in OECD and Emerging Markets
