The MD, Head of Business & Professional Services (B&PS) leads a team of senior bankers and managers to drive the strategy for the Industry sector. The role is part of the UK senior leadership team and a key component of the Global Industry team. It requires in-depth knowledge of B&PS sub-industries, an understanding of commercial focus areas, and the ability to manage senior client relationships up to c-suite level.
Responsibilities
- Drive innovation in client solutions by partnering with product specialists and subject-matter experts, structuring deals that balance risk and reward.
- Execute strategic initiatives launched centrally across Group, Banking, and CCB levels.
- Oversee the credit relationship for clients, coordinating the entire process and ensuring compliance with policies and institutional procedures.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to Citigroup policies at all times.
- Lead and coach a team of Relationship Managers and emerging leaders, investing time in their development.
- Maintain and deepen client relationships, proactively addressing needs, risks, and new opportunities to expand wallet share.
- Focus on new business development and positioning Citi in new relationships to grow overall business size.
- Attract, retain, and motivate a high-performing team, manage budgets, and meet sales goals.
- Appropriately assess risk, uphold the firm’s reputation, and supervise colleagues to maintain compliance and ethics.
Qualifications
- 20+ years of experience in commercial banking.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial banking, credit, and rapid learning of new products.
- Commercial credit decision-making authority, experience with complex capital structures and cross-border transactions.
- Advanced credit skills that justify appointment as a senior credit officer.
- Strong teamwork, matrix-environment adaptation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Track record of managing and leading teams through complex change, retaining and developing talent.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership abilities.
- Time-management and business development focus with innovative approaches.
- Adaptable mindset, agile leadership, and swift prioritisation based on data insights.
Education
- Bachelor’s or university degree; Master’s or accountancy background preferred, along with managerial experience.
Certification Regime
The role is a Certified Role under the FCA and PRA Certification Regime. Employees must be fit and proper to perform the role. Assessments include extensive interviews, self-disclosures, criminal record checks, reference checks, credit checks, and other background screenings.
