We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Generative AI Software Engineer to lead the development of generative AI (gen AI) solutions. In this role, you will be leading a team of gen AI software engineers and will be a crucial driver of innovative projects throughout the bank, utilizing generative AI and large language models (LLM). You will work closely with business partners and stakeholders to introduce and embrace these advanced technologies, elevating client experiences, delivering value to our customers and ensuring regulatory compliance through cutting‑edge technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership to the Generative AI project teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence.
  • Foster team members’ professional growth and ensuring the team's continued success.
  • Help mould and deliver on Citi’s generative AI strategy.
  • Lead and participate in research activities to explore and advance state-of-the-art generative AI techniques, including GANs, VAEs and other relevant technologies.
  • Stay actively engaged in monitoring ongoing research efforts, keeping abreast of emerging trends and ensuring that the Generative AI team remains at the forefront of the field.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to integrate generative AI technologies into our products and services.
  • Ensure the quality and performance of generative AI models, conducting rigorous testing and evaluation.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders across the bank to drive the adoption of generative AI and LLM, identifying opportunities for innovation and value creation.
  • Ensure that AI initiatives meet regulatory requirements while pushing the boundaries of technology innovation.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D., master’s or equivalent experience in a relevant field (such as computer science and/or machine learning).
  • Experience in machine learning, delivering complex solutions to production.
  • Proven hands‑on experience in data science, natural language understanding (NLU) and natural language generation (NLG).
  • In-depth knowledge of deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch and other open sources libraries/APIs or similar.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Publications and contributions to the AI research community are a plus.
