Citi is undertaking a multi-year, global data transformation to address regulatory findings and support key commercial priorities.

In response to regulatory findings from international regulators, the Banking & International (B&I) Data team manages a significant International book of work through both global data transformation alignment and locally led execution.

The team’s mission is to ensure international data requirements are met or mitigated through strengthened data governance and robust data quality remediation activities.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic data transformation leader to drive strategy and execution for the international data book of work, across products, functions, data teams, legal entity boards and regulators.

This is a senior director role that will report to the London-based International Data Lead and play a pivotal part in a broad, complex, and demanding team environment.

Given the scale and ambition of Citi's global data transformation, the ideal candidate will be adept at navigating ambiguity and complexity, able to deliver on multiple high-stakes responsibilities, and will possess a very hands-on approach to execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Execution

  • Define and agree on the overall strategy, approach, and execution oversight for the international data book of work, covering established programs (e. g., EU RDARR) and emerging priorities (e. g., Brazil, China, India).
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Citi's group data strategy to articulate the execution approach for legal entities, ensuring alignment of remediation plans with enterprise tools, processes, and globally aligned data transformation activities.
  • Drive multi-year planning and delivery, define outcomes and success criteria, and manage funding and budgets to address an increasing number of international regulatory requirements.
  • Maximize the uptake of Citi's AI infrastructure and platforms in the execution of the international data book of work.

Executive & Regulatory Engagement

  • Develop, coordinate, and present high-quality materials for multiple Board, Executive Committee, and Regulator meetings.
  • Strengthen engagement and ensure consistent messaging with regulators, legal entity executives, and boards, clearly articulating strategy, execution, business outcomes, progress, risks, and risk reduction over time.
  • Serve as a primary delegate for the International Data Lead.

Stakeholder Management & Assurance

  • Develop strong partnerships with senior representatives in local and global product, function, and data teams to ensure full engagement and right placed accountability.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for multiple local and global assurance teams across the three lines of defense (e. g., Risk and Control, Internal Quality Assurance, Operational Risk Management, Finance CRO, Internal Audit).
  • Strengthen integration with these assurance teams by finding pragmatic and efficient ways to engage without slowing execution, driving an efficient and risk-based assurance model with clear accountability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven significant experience in banking or financial services.
  • Proven experience with cross-functional business delivery, ideally with large, data-intensive program management experience.
  • Deep experience with data programs, including BCBS 239, and data governance practices and policies.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with demonstrated ability to provide written updates for boards and regulators and a talent for storytelling and visualizing complex or ambiguous concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with large, complex, and diverse teams.
  • Ability to influence outcomes on projects with multiple constituents across organizations while ensuring high-quality delivery to agreed deadlines.
  • Experience in industry best practices related to data management.
  • Knowledge of AI techniques as applied to data governance.
  • Advantageous: Experience in Risk and Finance functions or architecture, and familiarity with multiple asset classes (e. g., Interest Rates, Credit, FX, Commodities, Equities, Prime, Commercial Loans, Services).

Education

  • Bachelor's or University degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A Master's or MBA degree is preferred.
  • What we’ll provide you

By joining Citi, you will not only be part of a business casual workplace with a hybrid working model (up to 2 days working at home per week), but also receive a competitive base salary (which is annually reviewed), and enjoy a whole host of additional benefits such as:
