What We do / The Team
The Senior Business Analyst position is responsible for understanding business problems, analyzing them thoroughly, finding appropriate solutions and working with development squad to implement them. This BA position requires good analytical knowledge on Fixed Income and Derivative products from Front Office perspective. FiTP is the primary deal capture, trade processing, inline PV & risk, and workflow processing for Vanilla and Exotic IR derivatives, as well as being the strategic capture system for several other asset classes. The team is responsible for supporting the business in the development of functionalities for derivative products, trade capture and processing. The team actively engages with the multiple trading desks involved, Middle Office and Operations, Financial Control, Market Risk management, Regulatory, Credit and close collaboration with the development and QA testing teams. This role encompasses the capture of requirements, specification, transition of associated jira through build and QA, user acceptance testing and delivery to production.
Role Overview / What will you do
- Lead the analysis and requirements gathering for fixed income OTC Derivatives Trade Capture and Trade Processing.
- Work with traders, Sales, business unit managers and heads of businesses to understand business practices and provide solutions enabling business growth and growing operational efficiencies.
- Lead deliveries end to end from requirements, design, construction, testing and implementation; provide user and operational support on application to business users.
- Work with PM to establish and maintain periodic communication to business and technology partners.
- Take lead in planning the best practice solutions, tracking, execution, and overall project management of the roll out of cross asset and multi-functional initiatives.
Key Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience as a Business Analyst or similar role, ideally within Investment Banking.
- Ability and proven experience of driving functionality/project from analysis to successful production.
- Proven experience as an owner of delivering successful project outcomes.
- Ability to communicate productively and efficiently with business (FO Traders, Business Managers etc.).
- Ability to transform business requirements into precise functional/technical specifications.
- Proven diplomatic and analytical skills. Have ability to manage complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact by weighing various action plans and balancing potentially conflicting needs.
- Strong team orientation and commitment to overall team success, intense user focus and commitment to driving quality.
- Effective time management skills to manage multiple priorities with flexibility on time zones.
- Experience with XML: xpath, xsd (to be able to build xml schema, xpath etc), JSON.
- SQL knowledge to be able to query and analyze database data. Ability to create complex sql queries.
- Knowledge and proven experience with UML/BPMN or any other workflow/visualization notations as a business analyst.
- Experience with Investment banking - OTC derivatives: products knowledge, trade life-cycle knowledge, STP and experience in such projects (especially interest rate derivatives).
Any Beneficial / Nice to have skills and experience
- Ability to manually calculate P&L, Risk concepts, aptitude/interest in number crunching, problem solving and articulation skills.
- Knowledge of any object-oriented programming language (java, c#, Delphi etc.) to be able to read and understand code.
- Knowledge and experience with FpML for interest rate/commodities or equities derivatives.
- Knowledge of any other financial protocols/formats used to describe derivatives (SwML, FIX, FIXml, SWIFT etc.).
- Knowledge of investment bank structure and departments responsibility, operational processes (FO, MO, BO).
- Experience with Mysis Summit, Murex, MarkitWire, OpenLink, ICELink.
